I talked to Bas about something..and also Andrew, he believes Ian was a simple guy and the best homage we could pay to him was this dedicated thread were all of us are saying goodbye and sharing his wonderfull memories...he's probably right...i suggested to rename the f.1 section to "Ian's f.1 section" but i agree, this thread, remenbering him is by far the best we could all do. If however someone decides do make a more definitive memorial i would be all for it, as i said once, Ian was the heart and soul of the f.1 section and we will never forget him.
Godspeed Fast_Ian No doubt, he's up there watching the greats and telling them stories of his time on Fchat. And a big thank you to Freshman for taking the time to check in on our friend.
From another thread- This was one of his favorite pictures. What a cheerful guy Ian was. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144739145-post2359.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
fffffffffftttttt..... So so so disappointed to hear this...Sigh...RIP buddy...i really can't believe this..
Very very sad news... RIP Fast Ian - you will be missed! @ Freshmeat: Respect & thank you! I can hardly imagine how hard the trip back home must have been...
What a bummer. Ian seemed like a proper, good bloke. Just a few months ago he posted a pic of his brand new Granddaughter in the UK, talking about moving back there. Really hope he got to meet her in person before passing. RIP http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144709331-post1.html
Although an infrequent poster in F1 section, I am an avid reader of it. Like many, I am saddened our worst fears were realized and Ian is gone. Let me add my thanks to Freshmeat. I often thought that Ian is one of those here with whom it would be a blast to watch an F1 race. Godspeed, Fast Ian!
Dear Moderators Can i suggest that you might consider organizing some kind of tribute to Fast Ian?Although this thread in itself is going some way towards that. Perhaps something along the lines of 1 or more minutes silence,no posts etc, before the start of this Gp in historic Spa? On the warm up lap? A bit like how the drivers sometimes show respect for any departed colleagues on the grid? I understand that very few of the people here on the F1 forum have actually met Ian ,including myself, however reading through the many tributes to him suggests to me that it might be a popular idea. Thanks.
While I'm not a mod in the F1 section I can tell you that when we lost Jens and Amar that Rob took the entire site down for a moment and displayed a message to them instead. I printed that message and had it laminated and handed it out at our next Ferrariclub event where the drivers placed them in their windshields
I'd like it if we could immortalize his profile at least, keep his avatar alive etc. IMO he deserves to be in this section as well: Who's Who in Ferrari Universe - FerrariChat.com Thanks.
