We need a thread on Resorts World progress.

A lot has been done. The parking is finished, the construction of a second tower is underway, and the main hotel building is almost double its height from where it was stopped.

The green arrow shows where the construction stopped in 2008. The orange structure on top are molds to pour the concrete. At each level, they raise the entire structure and pour another.

Wow guess I haven't noticed when I have been down there, not sure how I could have missed other than trying to stay away from the cabbies!

That's great news. Let's hope this one gets finished, that would be fantastic for us.

So here is the progress on Resorts World but I noticed something strange -- it looks like the same color glass as the Wynn / Encore. You can't see it in this photo but from the south side, its the exact same bronze colored glass.

Sure enough Wynn is suing! I can't see how they will win though because when it's finished, the building will have a pretty distinctive "Chinese" look, complete with lantern hanging from the front.

I like this a lot better. I think they are detuning the "Chinese" look.

Yeah there were some that theorized that the failure of Lucky Dragon made them rethink the theme a bit. Expect it to be more Shanghai modern chic.

First opening of a major resort property since the Great Recession. The last one was Citicenter. The beginning of the revitalization of the north strip along with the new convention center across the street taking the space from what was the Rivera (those guys are working full out to meet the deadline).

This lot used to have the Stardust which was blown up 12 years ago.

This is the first Resorts World property in Las Vegas. Resorts World is huge in Asia.

Yah I agree. Themed hotels are out of fashion. Monte Carlo was just redone modern and branded The Park. Aria and The Cosmo are the new trends.

You have to give MGM a lot of credit for what they've done at and around T-Mobile and The Linq.

Work for the new dome concert hall behind The Venetian is also going at full speed. It's going to be amazing. It will change the Vegas skyline and perhaps be the number one place to see a live performance in the world.

The dome is going to be 32 stories tall and completely covered with an LCD screen.

Will they have to stop during the course of the lawsuit?

    I can’t see how.

The county had to approve the design. Wynn would have had their chance to object. So I’m not getting the issue of lawsuit unless the design was changed.

The glass that they're putting up does make it look like the Wynn properties that are directly across the street. Some friends and I were having lunch at Capital Grille which faces them and we were talking to each other whether that was the Resorts World property... or that the Wynn's new project with the land they just bought. So it was confusing to a group of people. Odd part about the suit is that RW is not complete so maybe it will be distinguished with trim and flourishes not installed yet. But better for Genting to deal with it now than to spend even more and lose to the big boys across the road.

Thanks! It'll be interested to see what special attractions Resorts World will have to make it stand out a little bit or bring people in from the competitors.

Has Wynn started on their expansion project (Wynn West, correct?)?

That one is on hold. I think they will wait to see if they get a license in Japan first. But the project in back on the golf course is still progressing.

Oh, what is Wynn West suppose to be? Is that different from the Wynn Paradise project that has the water park/beach project with a 1,000 room hotel?

    Before Steve Wynn was booted:

He bought the dirt field that used to have the Frontier Hotel (across from the Fashion Mall and next to Trump Towers) and was going to turn that into Wynn West.

    After Steve Wynn was booted:

Now, that project is on hold but they do own the land.

    Before Steve Wynn was booted:

Wynn was going to tear up the golf course behind all the way to Paradise and turn it into a waterpark with a new hotel.

    After Steve Wynn was booted:

The hotel is under construction but they are keeping the golf course.

IMO, I think everyone is jockeying for a potential Japanese license. Wynn is also finishing a $2.5 B property in Boston which opens in 2019.
