I love this guy and his data driven approach. For discussion Note the impact of silver and gray and charcoal is era dependent. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just watched this video my head hurts LOL!! ( This Guy should be working at NASA) I think any color on any model will sell very fast in todays market PS Happy Healthy New Year Brother Scott!!!
My take is that he is saying the first few steps on the model hierarchy seem to have a modest and measurable effect that diminishes as one moves up the hierarchy. Also, red is one of the few colors that doesn't have a negative effect on resale value.
With red currently being unfashionable for Ferraris, it seems to me the video is more a market snapshot than a true analysis of the overall effect of red on resale value. According to the video only 45% of Ferraris are currently ordered in red. Had the presenter done the analysis in the 1990s, when a full 85% of all Ferraris were ordered in red, he would have probably seen a substantially different trend.
I love red ferraris, however black looks deadly awesome, for 5 mins until it gets dusty. But ceramic coating helps so much, in 6 months of having my black f430 after ceramic coat, only wash maybe 3-4 times
I love this data driven analysis. I’ve often construed “resale red,” however, correctly or incorrectly, as owners deliberately repainting non-red Ferraris red in order to boost sales prices. I hope that practice is seeing its last days.
Perhaps. He basically said the earlier mid 8 it does and now later it is less but not zero. Hard to know cars or price points, or stage in Ferrari customer journey? That said when people ask if red is better, the safe answer is It doesn’t hurt
For first time or early Ferrari owners red may be a deciding factor. My first Ferrari was titanio, and my wife said my 2nd one had to be red. According to her and many others “a Ferrari should always be red”. I may not agree, as I like them in all colors, especially verde. But I have to agree my f430 in red looks amazing!
My first ferrari was red; just had to scratch that itch. I considered other colors however as my first car I could not escape the excitement of the idea of actually owning a 430 spider in rosso corsa; with a tan interior and an all black dash, the car was simply stunning - hot as hell yet also a classical ferrari look. Down side of a rosso corsa spider is they draw a lot of attention. My current car is Nero Dayton 458 spider and it does not draw nearly as much attention; people often do not notice it until they are right on top of it. By the way I highly recommend this color for anyone who wants a black car buts doesn't want it to always look dirty; the sparkle in the paint does a wonderful job of fooling your eye into not seeing the dirt. Having now had both a red and a black car I have noticed that a red car often times draws a more extreme reaction from others whether that reaction be on the positive side or the negative side. I believe, that just like me, many first time buyers will continue to gravitate towards red; after all is there anything on this planet quite as beautiful as a red ferrari????
The data showed by far the biggest parameter of a Ferrari is mileage. Spec, condition, and service history were outside the scope but make a huge difference in the price and desirability once other factors are chosen.
I’ve had a 360, 430 and 458 and they’re all Red/tan. I’ve had multiple Porsches that were all silver. Certain cars should be certain colors lol.
White 458, white 488, and now a black F8. Enhanced sales potential is certainly desirable, but I just can’t do red; I just can’t.
Bianco avus 599 and it definitely stands out in a sea of red ferraris. I guess I am one of the few who prefers the white Testarossa over the red one (think Miami Vice)
What one sees on this forum does not always match reality. This is analogous to people here saying you should drive ur car every chance you get. But, majority want a super low mileage car when it comes time to buy. Historically red with a tan interior has carried a premium. Whether that trend has changed remains to be seen.
Like others have mentioned my first (and current) Ferrari (07 F430 Spider) had to be in red … I just couldn’t see owning my first Ferrari in any other color. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

Isn’t it cold in Memphis for top down? I ll see your 360 and raise a 16m Image Unavailable, Please Login colors ? Pozzi blu, Nero, rosso corso, Argento, Nero, Grigio Titanio, Nero,Nero,Nero,Argento, rosso corso, azzurro California , I really love Nero but the new cars really need more metallic colors to show the details. That said the data presented suggests red will not hurt resale.
It was about 65F that day. Beautiful Memphis winter afternoon. A few days before, the entire city was encased in ice.

Currently going through this battle in my head. Looking at my first Ferrari, F430. Wanted red because it is the quintessential color, and also I just happen to love red cars and think the F430 in red is beautiful. So I have been laser focused on red, and missed out on a good one I should of jumped on last month. Now two cars have popped up that are not red, but are great colors and I actually like the colors, and check off every other box. Except they are not red. Not sure what to do but I'm leaning towards one of the two non-reds currently. Hopefully I don't regret it.
Me either. Most of my cars are black, silver, or grey. That's what I prefer. I actually like red, there is no denying it's a very visceral color. Some cars look beautiful in red, others are better in other colors, it really depends on the design. But I will never get another red car - I have one sports car that is red, and the difference in how other people react to the car is very noticeable (and, in my area, overwhelmingly negative/angry/aggressive). And then there is the LEO factor, too... Better to fly under the radar a little more if possible.
Above is 812 in Blu Swaters Opaco. Gorgeous. Had a resale red F12 prior to this. Love the more unique colors. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
