After all these years, my accelerator cable (246 GTS LHD) finally failed. Any instructions on how to easily replace it?

Changing the accelerator cable is done from below the car. There is an access panel under the accelerator pedal and a panel where it comes out of the back of the chassis (unfortunately missing on many cars). If you have the inclination and comfort to do this job then it is all pretty self explanatory. Just be sure to lubricate all pivot points when apart. The accelerator pedal in particular gets a lot of carpet lint that can really dry it out.

Once everything is back together be sure to check that you are getting full travel and make sure the length of the cable and pedal stop are adjusted so that the cable is not under undue tension when you are at full throttle.

I'll also add that the excellent photos Kevin added are for a RHD car which has extra bits to transfer the motion from the right to the left side of the car. On a LHD car the mechanism is MUCH more simple

Many thanks. Looks like I'm going to be putting it up on my lift to get this done.

Install at engine top side then feed down to pulley.
when going through central tube, perhaps place the bag over to protect dirt
