    Hi guys,

I must have changed 100 batteries over the course of my life, but I have never changed one in a computer intensive car like a 360. So, some advice from the experienced would be welcome.

Here is my plan - step by step:

Disconnect the battery shut off switch in the front boot

    Remove negative terminal from battery

    Remove positive terminal from battery

Remove battery from car and install new battery

    Connect positive terminal

    Connect negative terminal

Reconnect the battery shut off switch

Turn ignition to on, wait for 'check OK' and then wait for 10 seconds after 'check OK' goes off

start car and allow to idle for 10 minutes. Then drive as normal

    Am I missing anything?????

John- For a bulletproof run cycle, try this. The rest is fine.

Turn battery disconnect switch off and turn off all accessories (stereo, A/C, etc).
Let engine get completely cold or wait for at least 30 minutes.
Insert key in ignition and leave for 30 seconds.
Turn ignition to on and leave for 30 seconds.
Turn ignition off and leave for 30 seconds.
Turn ignition on, wait for Check OK, and start.
Let idle with no input whatsoever for 10 minutes.
Turn accessories back on and drive gently for 10-15 minutes at least.
You will have to insert stereo code, if required.

The battery has a vent tube attachment to vent out gases because the battery is technically in the passenger compartment. I don't know if every battery comes with the vent tube attachment but that is something to take into consideration. I always hook up my 360 to a battery tender when I park it. I believe that has made a considerable difference in the life of my battery.

Hi, I'm just a little curious what would happen, or possible damage, if you just replace the battery like any other car ?

Eddy- If you mean without using the battery disconnect switch, possible damage to an ECU when connecting the new battery, possibly nothing. If you mean no run cycle, she will eventually catch up, but you could not pass an emissions test until after a few drives and you might have to cycle the AC multiple times to get it to come on, plus other possible transient glitches.

The second you can try and see with the disconnect switch, the first I do not recommend

Removing the negative cable first is a very good idea. That way if you accidentally touch ground with the positive cable nothing will happen. Incidentally when I changed my battery I did it the correct way (turned off the disconnect switch) but when I connected the positive cable I got a little chirp as if something had powered up. Very strange as the disconnect switch should kill everything -- right? I do have a LoJack installed so I wonder if that is the culprit?

Alan- The alarm is hot wired around the disconnect switch to provide protection even in long term storage with the battery disconnected with the switch.

Okay I didn't know that but thinking about it, it makes sense.
