Replacing 599 Ash Tray

    Probably one of the simplest repairs on the 599 is replacing the ash tray (069717400). Remove the little tray inside to find the single screw holding the unit. Pop it out, disconnect wiring harness. The only fiddly part is to remove the actual lighter from the tray so you can move it to the new unit. You have to disconnect the plastic surround from the metal lighter part. There are two catches holding it in. That's it. Overall the tray is pretty delicate plastic. Easy to break if you bump it in the open position.

    You can remove your ashtray and gently heat the top bar with a heat gun. Then straighten the warp (with gloved hands) until it cools. Be careful as too much heat will melt the plastic.
