    Hi Ed,

Intrepid Motors is a GREAT place...if you have an older model Ferrari. I think the "newest" car he does maintenance/restoration work on is the 328. Sport Haus also does maintenance on Ferraris and other exotics. They just recently changed ownership so I'm not sure what they charge or how reputable they are.

Hope this helps! I'll have to look for your 550 around Reno.

Intrepid isn't servicing road cars so don't be offended if they say NO.

That's great if they will do it but they don't like newer cars and they are often at racing events and don't even answer the phones -- so I have had mixed experiences there. They didn't want to work on my 575 but a 550 is older. Perhaps if you catch them when they are not racing maybe they will do an oil change or something simple. I wouldn't count on something like a belt service though. Don't know what you need, just sayin. Good luck

    Thanks all

Sounds like there's not a lot of choices in town, even for small stuff.

I've lived her for 17 years and I've owned my 308 this coming June for 25 years. Every time I've stopped by Intrepid I've been told "We're too busy working on race cars so come back after Sept. or before April." I don't drive my car in the winter so they're not an option. I have routine service like oil changes & tire mounting done at Sport Haus but for real maintenance I drive to Walnut Creek, Cal. to Prestige Autohaus. I usually drop off my car and get a room at the Marriott across the street and my wife and I take off on BART to San Fran for the day and pick up my car the next day. They've done my belt changes the last three times and I'm pleased with their service.

Bay area shops are often the best bet. My second cousin in-law has had Intrepid work on his '86 328 GTS ever since he bought it 26 years ago. Maybe that's why he is still doing business with them. I know that Intrepid is geared more towards servicing and restoring old vintage race cars, but maybe the shop had a few customers with street cars back in the day and still remain loyal to those customers? I'm just the messenger and going off of what my relative has told me. Also, he said that he has the routine work done during the winter months so they can work on it when they have the time.

Take the car to T&R Automotive in SF I know it is a bit of a distance but he will make up the difference by not only taking great care of your Fcar but saving you $$ in the long run. I have seen him working on a 1959 250 California to a 458. Tony is amazing, very honest and fair. He has helped me with my cars! Good luck Ed.

    Bob,
Thanks for the info, it looks like I'll be going over the hill but hopefully not until the next service is due.

Any thoughts on a shop for Detailing?
