I’ve spent about 45 minutes trying to remove an electrical connector pin from the white connectors in my Testarossa’s fuse box. However, despite trying nearly every removal tool that would fit, I simply cannot get it out. Is there any trick to it? I’ve also spent about 15 minutes with a single point tool trying to bend in any tab with no luck.

There is a single lock tab and a slot in the plastic for it to tell you where it is. The connectors are not a tight fit so it needs to be held still so it will bend back and not just move out of the way.

Thank you Brian. I wasn’t holding it still so that could definitely be my problem. I will try again. I appreciate it!

One things that helps is to push the wire and terminal forward in the plastic housing when bending the tab inward (so the end of the tab doesn't "drag" on the step that it engages with in the plastic housing), and the tool needed isn't anything complicated like you show. Here's a close-up of the tab that needs to be bent:

Those little key chain of "removal tools" rarely help anything in my experience.

I rebuilt the majority of the engine / ECU wiring harness on my Toyota a few years ago and had to disassemble a lot of those type of connectors and re-pin things, etc. Fun times...

What I found works the best is to take an old Swiss watchmakers screwdriver (e.g. Bergeon) and grind the flat end into a very sharp point. Then heat the tip up a bit with a lighter and case harden it in oil and then give it a slight temper. The very sharp/hard tip is great when it comes to freeing all those little tabs inside the connectors. Having a set of OptiVisors is just about mandatory also.

Here's the main tool I use to de-pin most connectors over here.

Hi Steve - is there a TE or Molex equivalent for this terminal? I cannot find it anywhere.

For removing these terminals and the Junior Power Timer Ev1 style connector terminals, I found this tool very useful. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CHYLL69L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1. Worth it if you are doing a lot of removals. They also make a circular removal tool for the circular TE Universal Mate-n-lock used throughout the car at a reasonable price. Much better than the flimsy key style tools.

No other equivalents/brands that I'm aware of (nor that I can recall anyone ever mentioning) -- which is maybe a good thing because they are just not a very good design. Maranello Classic Parts has them under that 12278744 part number, and, IIRC, Ricambi America previously sold them (but with no search function I really don't like the RA website).

Thank you, I have spent a lot of time on the various sites (Digikey, mouser, etc.) and have not found an equivalent either.

Been looking for years. I still buy Ricambi Originali. Keep them in stock.
