Hello all. I have conflicting information about this so I was wondering if someone absolutely knows for sure what the deal is in removing the front rotors for my model year.

I need to get the rotors off to resurface them, do they just come off easily and not take the bearings with them? Or are the bearings pressed into them and I have to destroy the ring nut to get it off?

Gosh I hope it is the former.
    Thanks

Rotors come off hub. Remove caliper. Remove pointy retaining pins. Bang rotor with BFH and rotor comes off hub.

I have a 3.2 as well. It's very straightforward to take off the caliper.

What kind of conflicting info if I may ask?

Have a look at my video from 1min.50sec

Your springs and control arms look like mine.........they look like something on the bottom of a military hum-V. I cant figure out for the life of me where all this junk and dirt and grime came from. I have blamed the previous Oklahoma owner who drove my 86-3.2 on a farm. They have this grey brown clay in oklahoma and it everywhere on the bottom of my car.

Please post pictures of your job. I am very interested in the process and this is one of the jobs I am planning in the near future.
    Thank you

Thanks for the replies, all very helpful.

Just that some people have said that to take the rotor off, I need to unpeen (then replace) that big nut, then (ugh) I have to press out the bearings from the rotor, then when I'm done, reinstall and repack.

Then others have said easy-peasy it just comes off and you don't have to mess with all that junk.

I know 308s (at least my one) has the less friendly set up, but there's talk that a '88 Mondial is different.

Unfortunately that link isn't working for me.

That's incorrect, you just need to take of the caliper and the mount.

Try again. it was set to private. I am almost sure I didn't as I have 184 views on it, but YT changes sometimes some settings

    Hint
Use a piece of wire coat hanger to hang the caliper from the spring,,, so ,, as not to over stress the brake hose.
    Easy job.

I changed the rotors and am happy to report that it was indeed as simple as we all thought it would be. Thanks for all your help. The only slight complication was needing to use a puller to get the old ones off as they would not move, but it was not a problem. I bought new rotors in the end as the old ones were worse than I thought. Here's some photographs for fun:

New pads and fresh fluid though these pads don't have the wear sensor.

Hi, would you mind sharing where you got the rotors from and how much were they? Thanks.

I just checked with the terms and rules and it doesn't look like I'll be contravening anything by revealing that I got them from Euro Spares in the UK. They've never been my go-to for parts but they had a really good 'special offer' deal on them. I also got the pads from them. Shipped really fast too.

New discs and pads are always nice, but what was wrong with the old ones? They were to thin or wobling?

The old rotors had quite a lip on them (more than 1mm I would say) and I got a good deal on the new ones. Plus, it's Christmas! Merry Christmas, car.

So far brake feel is nice and solid and no ear-piercing squeal (yet).

Best way to go, by the time you have machined them you might as well replace them.
