Hi Everyone - looking for a 458 (my first F-car), and I'm going for the traditional red/tan color combination, mainly because it's a classic color combination and I'm assuming it would be easier to sell if I needed to. However, is my assumption correct?

I've seen a few red/tan 458s now, and I notice the tan interior scuffs up and gets dirty pretty easily. Now I didn't do the thing where I wet my finger and tried to rub off the dark scuffs on the tan interior, but I would imagine that anyone selling a 458 would at least try to wipe down their interior.

I had a red/black 991 (for some reason, I never liked the look of the modern red/tan P-cars) and the black interior was pretty easy to keep looking clean.

I do want to drive the 458 (not as a daily necessarily, but put maybe 3-5K miles/year on it). And I want to make sure that if I needed to sell the car, I could increase my chances as much as possible. I understand that for these cars, mileage and maybe some other key options (like LED steering wheel, seats, CF, etc.) probably increase the desirability as compared to tan or black interior.

But all things being equal, would a tan or black interior for a 458 be more desirable?

Appreciate everyone's comments and opinions on this.

in the Ferrari's prior to the 458 tan interiors looked good and were the classic look and safe bet. However on the more modern sleek designs of the 458 and 488, I think the black is more fitting. It goes with the modern look of the car. Of course this is a subjective matter, but I think you'll find the majority agree given that tan used to be the most common interior on a red ferrari and now black has become more common on the 458 and 488. (I just did a search on cars.com for red 458 spiders. 23 had black interior and 15 had tan. Interestingly for Italia's it was reversed and there were more tan than black).

I had a tan 360 spider and now have a black interior 458 spider. I prefer the black on the 458. My 488 is ordered with black interior as well. In addition to personal preference, the black interior does stay new looking loner and better.

Get what you want. It makes little or no difference in resale. The red/tan combination is is avoided by some people because it is viewed by them as a cliche color combination. I had a red/tan Porsche and soon got rid of it because after a while I thought it looked like a goofy circus wagon. My 458 is black/charcoal and it works for me.

I could care less about alleged resale colors. I drive what I want... not a color I select for the next guy. Get what appeals to you the most. It's your car.

I just sold Red/Tan, and I think the car sold based off of the CF options. Several people mentioned they loved the interior. Took me close to 8 weeks to sell. On my 488 I am doing red interior, however if I change from red it will be to black.

Either way both combos look great, and you will have a buyer for either when it comes time to sell. I must say I would get black based on the way the leather wears over time.

When i was looking in the summer , had my name on the waiting list for used red with cream , and was number 7 on each list. Yet they all had red/black cars for sale. Red/cream sell very quickly with the right spec.

Driver Zone plus LED's along with dash inserts. I did not have Race Seats. I will be putting race seats in my 488. I thought electric was more important, but after seeing and riding in the race seats I think they look amazing and are very comfortable.

Not having race seats did not effect selling the car IMO. Just personal preference.

Thanks. I think black race seats look amazing in the red 458. Has a scud feel to the 458.

No doubt about it! It's a red Ferrari - pretty hard to make a bad choice! Excited to see what you end up!

I've only had black interiors. Very elegant with no scuff marks or bleeding of jeans etc. Best , Kirk.

Nero for me. Then again I like the outside to be Nero as well.

I would agree with Cigars for practicality.

Ferrari changed their standard "tan" color for 2015 to a color called Beige Tradizione. Its a color 1/2 way between their original tan and Cuio. It is simply Rich with the black car I have but I've seen it once with the dark red and its stunning. If you can afford a 2015 or are looking at a 488, I'd go to a show room and check it. I've got 13,000 miles on it and I've been able to keep my interior clean no problem with Griot's interior cleaner.

Isn't the cream interior a sort of UK special though? It seems like it's far more popular there than in the rest of the world.

The amount of dirt that gets on interior is the same of course, but it cleans up easily and retains a new look, if you just wipe them off each time you wash the car with a wrung out carbon fiber cloth. No problem. Well maybe blue or black jeans might need a little cleaner added once in a while. Go for it, if you like it!

On earlier cars, I'm a major fan of the classic Rosso Corsa/Beige combination, specifically with Castoro carpets. However, my tastes change once you hit 458 production. For me, that classic combination doesn't fit the 458 or the 488 (or other modern Ferrari's) for some reason. Nero, without question.

Well, it's an odd Q; it all has to do with your own taste and imo NOT of the future buyer.

Taste of future buyer can be very different from yours ! And not like that black interior at all :D ...

I had a rossa corsa/black 512TR and believed a F sportscar had to have those colours.

This Februari I was offered a 458 by a private seller. No sportseats and Red & Crema interior.

Yes, I thought about it and did buy it ! Also my dear wife loves this as contrast to the former Ferrari.

So: whatever people write here to you ... -> Buy what YOU like now and enjoy that now imo :)

I'm trading this car to Continental Autosports in Hinsdale Illinois. Should be there by early January. 2,000 miles on this 2015 458 spider with original msrp of $310. I can't seem to attach more than one picture at a time. These pictures are when I picked up the car in Feb. 2015. It will be sent back with cover, conditioner, all keys and books. Perfect condition. Trading it on my 488

I really think with only driving the car 3k - 5k miles per year it would be easy to keep up the tan interior if that is your preference. I keep my cars a bit longer than most Ferrari folks seem to so I have had several red /black cars mainly Pcars. I did have a couple of Mercs with tan interiors as DD but I took the tan mats out and used chocolate brown mats which work out well with a wood grain trim. The tan seats looked OK but I cleaned them every six months so always pretty fresh. Not sure I would care for tan with CF trim and would think black or dark grey would look better especially in a 458 IMO.

When I bought my 2015 the dealer said the new leathers were tougher than the old and I didn't believe him. But after 2 years and 13,000 miles I believe him. I've had no leather care issues with the NEW Beige Tradizioni

Red/tan seems to be popular in the US mostly.

    Red/black in EU.

    Red/cream in UK.

I wish tan or cream interiors were more popular in Europe. Anything but black, which I find boring. Just my opinion.
