I don't buy video games anymore as I usually finish them in a day or two and then lose $40 when I trade it back in. So I just rent them now, however RED DEAD was JUST rented when I walked into the store. Has anyone played it? good/bad? Let me know please! Thanks James Simpson
Heard nothing but good things, been contemplating buying it, however, i feel like it might be a game that i will want to sell in a few months. Theres some good videos on youtube, the multiplayer looks pretty cool
haha, I was going to start a thread yesterday about it then didn't! Looking like GAME OF THE YEAR already if you believe the reviews of it so far. From the vids I have seen of it multiplayer looks amazing. If you only plan of playing single player then rent it the story is 20hrs max.
I've been looking forward to this game for a while, I forgot it was release yesterday. I'll get a copy this afternoon.
I actually went and bought the game yesterday. I have NOTHING to play. It's really not that special i.m.o. Bound For Blood is just as good with equally good graphics. Lot's of riding your horse all over the place and STUPID side missions like playing horseshoes! I'll probably be finished tonight so before anyone buys it just wait as i'll most likely end up selling mine, I don't play the multiplayer or online games.
It feels like a successor to GTA San Andreas. There is so much to see and do. A giant sandbox. The game is epic. Gunfights, horseriding, ranching, stud poker, robberies, hunting etc.. You can be good or bad and there is a reputation and honor system. Most people will love this game. It's better than GTA4. It's not a pure FPS shooter like Call of Juarez. It's like a GTA game in the old west. Believe the hype.
This really is an amazing game, it was hard for me to stop last night. There is so much to explore. The online sandbox map is astounding, go it alone or team up for shoot outs against other gangs. One complaint I have is careful crossing streams, apparently cowboys can't swim. Hmm, I thought that was addressed way back in GTA SA.
Still haven't finished but then again have been sleeping alot lately, feeling crappy. It's ok but not that special, lot's of riding from place to place but good graphics...will have to play some more before I can make a fair judgement.
liking the game quite a big, single player is pretty exciting and has a lot to do, is so much like GTA4 and the graphics seem a little better. Multiplayer is great and is similar to GTA4 as well. Just check out the reviews and believe them, its a great game like GTA4 but if you play to long itll get a little boring so spread out when you play
Well I got the game yesterday and I haven't been able to stop!! Great game! Like others said it plays like GTA4 but is set in the west circa 1911. The missions have enough variation to keep you playing and you get to do other random **** like skin animals and treasure hunting if you want. There is a bullet time mechanic that you can activate to kill multiple dudes for a limited time. The tutorial is part of the story so you learn as you play. I also like the farm missions rustling cattle and breaking horses in, changes the pace of the game from always shooting people and chasing thieves then roping them up is always fun too! Haven't tried multi yet going to wait till my friends get it so we can start a posse haha.
The multiplayer has its pros & cons. The one thing I do like is warping to towns to explore the environment or hunting down various players trapped in a canyon & take them out sniper style. Granted, it's fun to roam the sandbox in your home screen but when you come across a bot gang to battle with other online players, you will most likely keep getting killed by the people that are supposed to help you with that mission. I blame this on kids babbling relentlessly through team speak & shoot at anything that moves. Another thing is the targeting, I was trying to shoot some online doofus with a rifle, I landed all my shots (including a headshot) & he still wouldn't die. Shoots me once, I'm dead. BS. I've also notice that you can be re-spawned in the middle of gun fight with very few places to take cover. A lot of these diehard online players are familiar with these re-spawning locations so your being shot at as soon as you appear. It doesn't help when they gang up on you either, most team matches or "gangs" can have very uneven odds. 8 versus 4 doesn't seem all that fair to me. I'm sure that Rockstar is working on patch to address this issues, in the meantime I'll stick to the story mode. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So I spend hours and hours and hours chasing down the leader of my own gang for that weak weak ending! I won't say what happens but what a load of crap! The game is ok except for the LONG horse rides to the next town...I know you can take the coach but if you don't remember the name of the town it's anyone's guess. overall opinion: MEH...
just use the camp sites and the MAP which is a button away You must be the only person on the planet that doesn't like the game. Even getting capped by Cougars makes me laugh!
It's not that I don't like it but EVERY single one of the missions was too easy...one of the good things is theres LOTS to do even after you've finished the main story. Chase down gangs for rewards and credits to different uniforms etc., Still a VERY weak ending.
I can't stop playing the single player game. I haven't tried multi yet. There are tons of things to discover, and something new every time I play. I am upset that cowboy's can't swim, though! Easy fast travel: make a waypoint wherever you want, camp and travel to it. Pretty easy! I usually ride to every location to add to the feel of the ol' west, and to do the random encounters.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/1776-Red-Dead-Redemption ZP review of it. He mentions bugs but I'm yet to encounter them, maybe it's only buggy on the PS3? I'm near the end, I have hunted down who I had to hunt down and now its like ... I'm playing the game from the start again... haha. Why am I still herding cows!?!?! I can't find any damn beavers! I been looking at the rivers in Tall Trees but nothing! I need them to make that Stranger plane. haha.
I actually really like this game. Been playing it for a couple of weeks now. Always laugh when a grizzly or cougar come out of no where and own me I also like that I can jump in and out of this game with ease. I enjoy playing it, but don't feel like I'm missing out on too much if I can't get back to it for a few days.
Haha, They have done a great job making the casino games realistic! Later in the game when you get to blackwater you play no limit and its intense! That's the best place to get the 2000 in one hand achievement. I tried to win the table it got down to me and some other random and it was just funny to see the time cycle in the background. I think i played 3 days in game time before I had to turn it off hahaha.
I've been playing the PS3 version and haven't had many glitches at all. It's frozen up on me twice when I've had 15 or so dead bodies around, but nothing else. I can't same the same for this guy, though! Hilarious stuff! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q7v4F8r9Og http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVVXyKP1FVk&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfbwxKAxZqg&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGiuzoRWsDg
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Those are classic! Actually I have seen a dude sink in to the ground and some bags floating in mid air but that's about it.
