For the folks that have lifts at home, was wondering which models they had and if they would recommend them, and the pros and cons of their lift they've experienced. Taking into account functionality, price, ease of installation, etc. Thanks!

Talking about a 4-post storage lift, or 2-post service lift?

Want to be able to do service in a home environment. Otherwise open to anything device that lifts the vehicle.

I use a twin-post, 9000-lb Bend Pack and am very happy with it. Make sure to get the asymmetric arms

Also, ideally get a 220V unit if your garage is wired for such; 110V lifts are nauseatingly slow.

Picked up a champion auto lift yesterday. 4 post.

Install is mostly done. The post itself is good quality. The instructions are a poor joke. Was a 6 hour road trip and then 4 house to set it up yesterday. Too worn out today to finish adjusting.

I got this for storage. For that it will be great. For in home servicing get a two post.

Hard to remove undertrays on a 2 post lift. Not to mention crawling on your belly to locate and hit lift points. I have a 9,000 2-post Bend Pack which I would happily swap for a good 4-poster with bridge jacks.

bernieb is correct that it's hard to remove the undertrays on a 2-post lift. I have to raise the car, loosen the tray, and set the wheels down on 12"-high blocks to be able to get the undertray off.

I bought a 2 post Rotary 220V with the top bridge (keeping floor area open between posts) The only complaint I have is it doesn't go low enough. In order to set up my 355, I have to drive onto 2X10's to fit the lift arms under it. But that is probably true of most 2 post asymmetrical lifts.

I agree, but would say many situations the single post is best for storage. That's what I went with because of limited room. It has same capacity, but a little more expensive.

I have a Mohawk 10k 2 post lift that I installed myself. It's an incredibly rugged unit and as far as I know, the only hydraulic unit that fits under a 10' ceiling. The unit is extremely heavy and since it's hydraulic, the lines can run under the floor (hard) or over the ceiling (easy) with only a 1/2" loss in lift height. The pads go down to 3-1/2" so it fits under my 360 Spider easily. With the 10' ceiling and the low height of the Spider (46" from the floor), I can raise my car high enough so that it has a clear 6' underneath. No bending over.

The big negative with the Mohawk is the availability. They are made to order so when you order one, you get in a long line that for me lasted three months. That was right after the Covid mess started so maybe they have shorter lead time now. If I had to do this again I would opt to space the towers a little farther apart. The 360 is a pretty wide car and the Mohawk factory specs make it tight fit. Spacing the towers just six inches further apart would have made it simpler.

The Mohawk is the cat's meow of lifts. It's probably twice as heavy, if not more, then the Bendpak units and is made of girder beams. The hydraulics need only the typical hydraulic service and should go 20 years without changing anything. The cables that the Mohawk uses are strictly safety devices in case of failure and are easy to handle and short in length. They just dangle and have no tension on them. The Bendpak is cable driven and those cables will fray and eventually fail. I hate cables myself so that's why I went with the three times more expensive Mohawk. All in, the Mohawk cost about $10k. 220v required. Mohawk is made in the USA. Weight is about 1800 lbs.

I have a 2-post clear floor chinese no brand. Was under $US2k 10 years ago. Been perfect. Needs 4m stud but they come shorter with cables and hydraulic lines covered on the floor.

I also have an ACL M1 6.5 single post lift. The product is fantastic! But if the price has gone up that much, you really have to want it! I paid under 10k for mine less than 2 years ago (12.5k all in with garage door mod and install)

They are fantastic pieces. My garage is tall, but not very deep so it was the only one that made the most convenient sense. I have reached my limits as to the amount of work you can do on your cars with them. No center bridge jack available. The cantilever setup limits what kind of weight shift and hard wrenching i would feel safe doing. Changing motor mounts in my old S-class with a screw jack pushing up the motor was as far as i would go. I have put the 456 on jackstands on the lift, to do rear axle work, but that was still done on the ground, i jusy wanted to put the car up away overnight.

I have 79" of clearence and nothing to worry about hitting when its up.

How much was the installation? I’m seriously considering one of these. Thanks!
