Wondering if anyone has any experience or know of any companies that refurbish the ABS hydraulic Brake pump. I'm in the Detroit area and trying to get my stuck pump mechanism unstuck but not having the best success. These units are factory pressed together so taking it apart isnt exactly an option. Would love to find someone who rebuilds these things but doubtful its that easy.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Also, search on alfabb (the Alfa Romeo forum) as the Alfa Milano (aka 75) uses the identical Teves system.

I had mine rebuilt by an auto electric place in San Francisco for $300 and kept it as a spare. Then when I needed it a year later, it did not work at all so I threw it away.

Buy a used one. They are out there.

Thanks for the info. The alfo pump would probably work, but is not identical. The closest thing I have found is the Jaguar xj pumps, they are identical housings and motor, the only difference being the accumulator is in the spot the brake line bolts up to on the ferrari unit so it sticks up and would be unable to install the closeout paneling. I was however able to use the electric motor off it and its a plug and play application. Last night I took an extra little keyway that plugs into the pumps shaft and welded a long bolt onto it so I could attach my drill to the pump. I had been soaking the pump housing in my parts washer, and then blew it out, rinsed some lacquer thinner through it, and then let thinner sit in it while I spun the piss out of it until my drill battery died. Its the most free its been and fingers crossed should work again. We'll see!

So I worked on a car where the previous mechanic wired the pump on full time and ruined it. I replaced the pump and thought I would have this old one rebuilt for a spare. Well, it did not work out. $300 wasted.

Yeah not suggesting the Alfa pump works, just saying many have gone through troubleshooting, bleeding, changing, etc. Lots of info out there to help you along the way.

Some resources out there that will cut open, rebuild, and pressurize the accumulators as well.

When mine craps out I plan on ditching the ABS and retrofitting a hydroboost, or possibly manual brakes even.
