Thinking of getting a ferrari rebody or recreation or whatever you call them. I'm an old ferrari guy who has had several Daytonas and dino and such. Now I'm thinking I'd like something a bit more vintage like a SWB or a Cal spyder, GTO, something like that. No fiberglass american stuff but a real ferrari chassis and motor. Just for fun. Anyone know of anything interesting for sale? If so please send me an email. Thanks. Tom

I know of nothing now but have seen good vintage TR's, SWB's GTO's etc. A good one is expensive. Good luck in your search and when the "purists" on this forum start
*****ing at you about "the loss of another 250 GTE" to make a recreation tell them to get a life.

Thankfully the world is not completely full of pretenders/fakes/losers/non-enthusiasts :D : http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137633561&postcount=70

Do what you like, after it's only a car and we hate them all, should be recycled into dog food cans :D ... psst: this is a site dedicated to those supposedly wonderful old cars ... obviously they really are crap after all :(. Pete's off looking for chat sites about recycling steel ... ;)

    Tom -

There's plenty either side of the "pond"

www.fantasyjunction.com in Emeryville CA sometimes offer an appropriate car

Replicas by Giordanengo, Allegretti, Favre, Roelofs, Sport Auto or Bachelli are some of the most faithful rebuilds

    Try www.anamera.cc, www.classicdriver.com or www.hemmings.com

The quality ranges from the direct facsimile to the frankly hideous.

Two California rebodies here (one SWB one LWB) unusual to see these at a franchised Ferrari dealership (look in preowned other Ferraris) They want huge money for them too.

Cavallo Motorsports in Encinitas California had a yellow 250 SWB rebody when I was there a couple of months ago. You might contact them as I believe the car was for sale. Looked very cool....built on a 250 GTE chassis.

I agree that the lines and the execution of the dash are not right, but I think only the early Californias had the wrinkle finish.

"Fine Car Store" should not be mentioned along with Marchetti and DK IMHO. The car pictured looks more like the fiberglass body by Precision/Modena Design on the Fiat 124 than an accurate recreation.

I would be willing to part with my accurate Allegretti California 250 SWB recreation on shortened 365 GT2+2 for the right price (a good bit cheaper than the GBP 449,000 at Carrs of Exeter). Engine was completely rebuilt last year and body is flawless.

PM me if you have interest.
