    Hello,
Just passing by from Porsche forum...
I am looking for the real weight of 488GTB. Have any of you had a chance to weight one?
Zeperfs.com claims confirmed EU weight to be 250kg higher than claimed. Is that possible?

    All the best!

You have to be careful with Zeperfs - check their small print; weighed with full tank of fuel and two passengers I think. Ferrari usually claim dry weight or something like that, plus they will give the lightest possible spec - very few owners would spec their car like that, meaning that weight can legitimately fluctuate significantly on Ferrari and other makes.

But still 250kg is way too much. Curb weight has different definitions but at least it includes a car ready to run. That means fluids and 75% of gas if I am not mistaken. What other options can make a car to weight so much more?
For instance my GT3 can be configured with roll cage, lift and no ceramic brakes. That gives 40 kgs over the factory curb weight at most. Things like nav, LEDs, full leather, etc can't yield so much weight. And that confirms when u weight Porsche. No BS from their side. They are also known for under rating the power although I had not a chance to dyno my car yet.
What's going on here? I want to buy F car at one point as I just love these cars for their hi tech technology that also means low weight but if it turns out that it is a pork instead of nimble 1300ish kg car it could also mean that it doesn't have 670hp nor goes as fast as claimed.
I am not trying to troll here. Just looking for solid data. Thanks!

    2 Passengers = 160kg
full tank = 76 liters is around 57kg

From memory, some weighed their ''lightest spec possible'' Ferrari's and found it +- 50kg over what Ferrari claimed, so presumably Ferrari's dry weight is done with italian measurements (i.e. zero fluids). That seems about right regarding actual running weight; all the oil, water and some petrol will add up quickly.

All supercar manufacturers publish dry weight.

Buy one - don't get in it, and it will be a 100kg lighter.

This is a very sensible plan as that way you won't put any miles on it either !

This is so dumb, if you love how the car drives and feels, who cares if its not exactly what Ferrari claims.

I agree - it's another of those 'let's stir the pot' kind of posts - as far as I am concerned, it can weigh 6,000 lbs but if does 0-60 in <3 secs and handles like few other cars, i can care less about the weight.

In private time, i fly planes - there, 'weight, fuel' and ultimately 'useful load' are super important - it determines how far, how fast, how long, with how much weight on board you can fly.... not to mention where the load is distributed, as this will also impact 'CG or Center of Gravity' which can adversely affect flying characteristics....

For a 488 which astonishing performance, who gives a 'f*ck'

No, it's not another stir the pot thread. I was only looking for solid information and was hoping to get it here. Information on the real weight of the car.
As mentioned before if manufacturer is claiming their cars' weight some 250kgs less than it is in fact then they might claim power figure, acceleration and stuff out of the blue as well.
I don't buy the theory that Italians are giving dry figures (still doesn't sum up) unless this means without the engine in their perception.
I am not a millionaire and for that reason this purchase needs to be well though. Will have to trade in GT3 which I just love and don't want to regret it.

Dry weight as per supplier: 1370 kg
Sport Auto Germany 03/2016: 1544 kg measured weight with full tanks
Just 4kg lighter than the 458 despite 15 kg additional weight for the turbo drive.
Now, if you add the fluids' weight (let's say 100) plus two persons (150)to the dry weight you get to the 250 mentioned.

    Let's see
Ferrari's official website currently claims a 1420 kg dry weight and 1525 kg kerb weight for the GTB, bot with the lightweight options (forged wheels and racing seats).

1525 kg kerb weight + 75 kg passenger/luggage + no lightweight options (and maybe full electric seats and spare tyre) = 1625 kg EU weight seen on zeperfs.com

PS: At the car's launch Ferrari press releases claimed a 1370 kg dry weight, not sure when they raised that figure

Must be a mix up cause they are claiming the same 1420 for the Spider too.

If you do not want to regret your decision, then why not just go and drive the car. The car could weigh 2000 pounds and you could end up not liking the way it drives. The whole experience matters a lot more than the true weight of the car.

He says that the spec is weighing into his decision. I think there is nothing wrong with people giving him advice to drive the car and have that help him in his decision and not just base it on the weight of the vehicle.
