As I peruse the Mondial classifieds, I constantly see in the coupe descriptions "rare factory sunroof". That combined with plenty of threads on here about the challenges they can bring, I conclude having a sunroof on a coupe can't actually be that rare.

Anyone out there have a coupe without the sunroof? When you sell (perish the thought :)), I'd argue you describe it as a "rare no-sunroof model"!

Not sure how rare they are, but the sunroofs are notoriously unreliable, if you happen to buy a Mondial with a sunroof, the most common advice seems to be to never use it.

If you do break it, parts and advice on how to fix it are available. Stefan makes replacement plastic glides and there is some interchange with Porsche sunroof parts from the same era.

Lots of threads on sunroof repair here. For good reason, it seems.

I don't know the numbers, but I remember hearing that the sunroofs were common for US cars but "rare" elsewhere.

To confirm, of the cars I used to own, my US spec Mondial 8 had one but my Saudi spec 3.2 did not.

I think it's more or less 66% with and 33% without sunroof, that's what I can say of the 6 Mondials I have/had.

I don't have any issues with the sunroof on my Jag either, but it is not the same car as a Mondial, neither is your GT/4.

You think that Ferrari reinvents the wheel with every model change?

I have a rare QV, ie the solid roof coupe non-option! I haven't been around the FOC for a long time, but of the mondials I saw more had sunroofs than not. Owner chat on failures, as I recall, often centred on a lack of use, blocked channels, no lubrication (like the window mechanisms) and failure of 20 yr old plastic pieces.

Having replaced door seals, window seals and hinge pins, I don't think the sunroof is 'worse' than any other bits of the body work if maintained and not a Friday special!

I've never seen one without a sunroof in the UK.
Neither of our Mondial cars have a working roof yet.

Mine required a bit of deep cleaning like the window motors did but now it works better than the windows do! Oh and I had to machine a new clutch nut for it where the previous owner had stripped it.

Mine has a rattle behind my head in the ceiling. How hard is it to lower the roof panel to get to the mechanism to try and tighten some stuff down?

I like the look of the non-sunroof Coupe. Clean lines.
My sunroof is on my service to-do list.
