The Daytona was an early plexiglass model. Silver with red interior, Florida plates. Good looking paint and interior although the plexi nose was cracked.

I would be very surprised if more than 20% sold. I have a feeling some of the consigners were looking for Scottsdale prices given the high bid vs reserves. The Batmobile stalled around $350,000 and was a no-sale. The 512BBi got up to $65,000 or $70,000 and was a no sale, along with the 330 2+2. The Dino pulled in higher bids but some people may have been turned-off by the paint color (sort of a greenish yellow, maybe the lighting influenced that). Saturday night, a 275 GTS peaked at $185,000 or so but again, didn't meet reserve.

The two driving simulators were interesting although the "cheaper" one at $20K was clearly superior to the $35K version (clunky and inferior graphics).

Never saw the Mercedes CLK-GTR. Was it a no-show?

It's Tuesday evening, and the official website for the Rand Workman event doesn't have any results posted from the auction. Anyone know where I can find auction results? Thanks.

I myself work for the Rand/Workman Fine Motor Auction. Just to let you know and anyone else interested in prices of the auction will be available in 30 days due to reviewing each transaction, etc. The Daytona we had was a good example and I believe it reached $180,000. The Batmobile did sell for a high price but will be kept confidential. I hope everyone enjoyed the auction!

    * Overall sell through is nearing 30% as transactions are still being processed

    * The Batmobile was successfully sold via telephone bid. The terms of sale are confidential to preserve the value of the the owner’s investment given it was the last Batmobile to ever be sold by the original creator.

There were some delays in bidder registration & car registration through Kruse International, as well as parking challenges due to the 3 unexpected cruise ships which were docked harbor side of the event - however non of the obstacles were a surprise as this was the first show of it’s kind in New York City - overall general consensus was very positive indeed and most of the nearly 6,000 attendees, bidders & exhibitors were pleased with the inaugural Rand/Workman Fine Motor Auction & Luxury Lifestyle Expo.

    More to come soon!

For additional questions, please contact Bradford Rand.

For all of those reading that worked on this project or simply gave advice or perhaps pushed a car :) – our sincerest thanks for making what was a 2 year “concept”, a reality here in Manhattan - all from an idea that David Workman shared with Bradford Rand simply because they both loved cars and felt like giving it the “old” entrepreneurial try for New York City!

We look forward to producing more events like this and learning from all of our experiences from this maiden voyage.
