I wish I could say I delayed this post so that I would have some time to test the install, but I've just been procrastinating.
Nevertheless, I'll add some real live experiences at the end.

So I wanted a top of the line radar detection system, after being scared by some guys at Coffee and Cars in West Palm Beach (thanks guys)
But, to be fair, on rare occasions I like to drive fast too. I figured a few prevented tickets would cover the cost of a system

    I had a few criteria:
    • The best system, period
    • Custom and fully concealed install
    • A highly experienced and detail oriented installer.

So, I did a lot of research online and found the BEL (Beltronics) STiR Plus to be the best.
Yes, others like the Escort Passport 9500ci or the regular 9500 are good too. Just not as good.
I did add the laser jammers so that I'd be protected from the laser guns.
Do your own research if you like, but a good review is this: http://www.radartest.com/BEL-STi-R-Plus-review.asp
Google the system: Beltronics STiR Plus and Laser Shifters

The job was done by Technicar, in West Palm Beach. I am fortunate to have these top guys 15 minutes from my home.
I visited their shop and spoke with them for hours before deciding they are the best guys to do this installation.
    This is them: http://www.technicar.com/

    So, the install consists of:
    • Bel ST-R plus with laser jammers
    • 2 laser jammers in the front, 1 on the top of the rear license plate
    • radar detector in the front
    • Central unit built in
    • Display built into mirror (they etched out a small rectangle)
    • Small control unit in the tunnel, just below the armrest
    • Speaker built in
    See the pictures

    It has worked very well:
    • very little false alarms, because the GPS records the locations and turns the alarm off after a few false ones
    • Clear voice and sounds
    • Obviously a very concealed install

Laser jammers: I'm on PGA Blvd, going west, Detector goes off, "Front Laser jammers firing" message, beeping, I slow down even more (was not speeding), and 2 seconds later: a cop in the median, laser gun drawn and firing.
he sees me, I see him. he knows I jammed him, I know that he knows that I know.
    Worked perfectly.

If needed, the system could still be removed if the next owner wanted that. But I'm keeping it, already put 6000 miles on it in 8 months.

Expensive: cost close to $3000 for the system and the 5 day installation.

Let me know if you have any questions, it's a great system.

As the installer is in Florida, I think it should be posted in the Florida thread so that you can get an impression of their work. Also, as it is a custom install in a California, I posted it in that model specific thread also.

$3000? How much does a good ticket attorney cost? I prefer just not to speed...
