German Autobild reports financial trouble for Force India and they have to come up with large amount in next few weeks. They wanted an advance of F1 money but Williams veto'd. Force India currently in "survival-mode".

They normally use a chassis for two seasons. Halo coming in suddenly for this season has really stretched them. Integrating it into the structure and accounting for the aero impact was a big task even for the big teams let alone Force India size.

This is not a surprise. Cannot pass at all. Share of funds awarded going down from Liberty. Rules that do not at all favor anyone but Mercedes and Ferrari, barely Renault. Massive amount of funding needed to enhance competitiveness until the next rule update in 2 years. How does that sound for a good business decision. Sponsors are few and far between now. Just ask Williams. There are better ways to spend and lose money LOL :)

So Williams used the veto to stop F India from getting advance payments ? How nice is that ?

She might regret that once papa Stroll pulls the plug and they are left drifting...

Williams is pretty dumb. They've made that clear since 2005 when they broke away from BMW. It's one thing to want to beat a team on the track...it's another by trying to get them out for good. It will just make F1 even less desirable to watch (especially for the Indian market) so less money in the long-run pulled in to redistribute. Idiots...

It makes sense for Williams. If Force India folds its two car less on the track that can potentially take points from them.

In fact I don't blame them. There's nothing in it for them.

18 cars on the grid prior to Monaco should The Force fold. 16, if Sweater decides Alfa badged Saubers finishing last or next to last the entire season wasn’t the Giulia/Stelvio statement Fiat were hoping to communicate. 14, if Red Bull decide early on Toro Honda has less promise than a first generation Life W12.

Leaving the door wide open for Williams to receive the Blue Flag Accumulation Trophy they richly deserve ;)

Liberty Media gives loan to Force India?

    JUNE 14, 2018

Force India, the leading independent F1 team, is struggling for survival.

That is the claim of Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, following the departure from the Silverstone based team's board of boss and founder Vijay Mallya.

"It doesn't really have any impact on the team. The day to day operations continue on under the management, as they've always done over the years," said deputy boss Bob Fernley.

"Vijay's decision is purely a personal one, but from a Force India point of view it really is business as usual."

However, that may not be precisely true. Auto Motor und Sport claims that Formula One Management, controlled by Liberty Media, is "currently helping out with a loan".

The report added that Mallya stepped down "in return".

Auto Motor und Sport said "five buyers" are shaping up to buy the embattled team, and they may include British energy drink Rich Energy, Mercedes and Force India title sponsor BWT.

Will Andretti buy Force India? Talks underway
Canadian Grand Prix had a special visitor and it could mean big news may be around the corner for Formula 1.

Michael Andretti, owner of Andretti Autosport was seen hanging around the F1 paddock. Veteran reporter Joe Saward said he was there to speak with Fernando Alonso and also to have a talk with Force India and Liberty Media about a potential takeover of the outfit.

Saward came to the conclusion after observing the people Andretti met during the race weekend.

In his MotorSportWeek blog, Saward wrote: “It was clear that this [Alonso] was not Michael’s only purpose for being in Montreal, as he was accompanied by his company president J-F Thormann and the familiar figure of Pieter Rossi, father of Andretti driver, Indy 500 winner and sometimes F1 driver, Alexander Rossi.

“Visits to Liberty Media and Force India suggested that they were there to sniff around and see if a deal could be put together to acquire the troubled team.

“It seems, from multiple sources, that a financial solution is required VERY quickly if Force India is going to avoid getting into financial and legal trouble.
“Having an Andretti team in F1 would be a terrific thing as the World Championship seeks to make a bigger impression in the United States.

“[Force India] is a great opportunity as there is a competitive turnkey F1 operation, which would simply require a bit of rebranding, but Andretti and is unlikely to jump in unless he knows what it is going to cost, and that is not going to be certain until we get an answer to the question of the F1 budget cap – and the length of its glide path.”

Force India has run out of money and its owners are unable to inject any cash flow. But the team has a solid operation and has shown it can climb up from even the steepest falls.

Three teams thwarting Force India sale

    JULY 31, 2018

Three teams reportedly look set to make the sale and rescue of Force India more difficult.

The Silverstone based team has been placed into administration, but there are several potential buyers.

However, all teams must agree if the new owners get access to all of the rights of Force India, including millions in prize money.

Auto Motor und Sport claims that McLaren, Williams and Renault do not agree that Force India's new owners should get all of the money and rights.

F1 owner Liberty Media, however, is vowing to help.

"Over the past few years the team has been an amazing example of what can be done with limited resources, showing that what you do and how you do it is much more important than the size of your budget," said sporting boss Ross Brawn.

"Formula one will be doing all in its power to ensure the team survives and I truly hope that in the coming days and weeks its future is resolved," he added.

Being stuck forever in midfield isn't something many dream of. Spending large cash to never be able to bag a win...why anyone does that is beyond me. FI has done an excellent job with what little they have, but they are 10.5 seasons without a single win. Only 5 3rd place podiums and that's it.

Let's not kid ourself, only 3 teams can win GPs nowadays, and Force India isn't one of them.
Finishing in the points is a success, and a podium a miracle.
But for "value for money", Force India is on top.

Giancarlo Fisichella finished 2nd at Spa for FI in 2009 and damn near won the race. Kimi's advantage came down to Ferrari's use of KERS(not then mandatory). Had Fisichella declined the opportunity to drive for Ferrari, he would have been a contender in the FI at Monza as well. Ironically his move to Ferrari killed his career in F1 IMO.

Perhaps not. Fisichella was a F1 veteran by 2009 and every Italian racing driver dreams of driving for Ferrari. I gather that the car was difficult to drive and he never came to terms with it. It absolutely crushed his self-confidence, reads like a Greek tragedy.

Only a great investment for an honest B-ionaire with a kid that cant keep the car on the track lol. This is the sad state of F1 depicted by Force India. They are the latest symptom of a 'racing' series with 3 teams onlly that matter. The rest are driving around in chaos or training younger drivers. Im in the really???? I should care camp about this or F1 in general. Unless its a B team or Renault, F1 is dragging down slowly and I am a major fan. Liberty have more work to do to save what is left or its 3 teams in DTM type open wheel arrangement.

I know real people are affected by this but this has been developing openly for years now. This cannot be a big surprise.

I don't think Liberty or the FIA can do a damn thing about it.
You need to be a constructor's factor team, and have plenty of money. Even Renault isn't in that league yet, and Red Bull may fall out of it.
The rest are just "extras" sharing what's left.

Fisi was going to leave F1 anyway, and finishing driving for the Scuderia was like the icing on the cake of his racing career.
    He couldn't resist the call.

The move to Ferrari would be "make or break" for Leclerc.
