Take a look at these 2 Lambo's, my question is this, The green Lambo, the middle section is it tinted with some film or is it painted black? I'm looking to smoke out the B-pillar on my incoming Vette to match the smoked/tinted roof and the windows. I'm thinking it's smoked out by who ever does the rear taillamps, and my next question, where can I get it done -Ed Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
assmuncher thats my car and Ron's car, lemon and lime. on Ron's car the back piece is painted and his lights are darker then mine. he did them for me, his guy used lighter paint on mine.
the reason Im asking cause the green Lambo's center piece looks like smoked glass, NOT a painted piece........
paint buddy, same paint that is on the lights. contact Ron he will help you out on your Chevi, ooops i mean vette. [email protected]
To properly "smoke" lenses, you apply a thin coat of paint, then polish the finish. Keep doing that until you get the desired level of blackness. Don't go to a cheap shop that will paint the lenses while they are still on the car. Make sure they take them out to properly tint the edges and corners. I had this done on both my Lamborghinis and my RS4. It works on some cars. On other cars, it looks a tad, shall we say, "ghetto".
The lights are done by mixing the right amount of paint and clear at the same time...the outside of the lens is painted, not the inside The declid looks like smoked glass because my body shop rocks and they know how ANAL I am, LOL I have Joe Z's Murci from LI in my shop right now getting the same treatment
Thanks!!!!!!!!!! Thats what I am interested in doing. The car I'm getting will look just like this one, and heres a bad photochop of what I'm looking to achieve, tint out the windows (not the windshield) and have the B-pillar painted to match the tinted windows Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
B-pillar painted black would be a normal job for a bodyshop. Just sand it down and paint it black. If you wanted to do something that is reversible you could attempt to have a decal shop cut and apply black vinyl onto it, like how they put stripes on police cars. Come to think of it, find a place that deals with aftermarket modifcations for emergency vehicles and they could cover it up real quick. PM me if you end up going the vinyl route and not actually painting it black.
to be honest i doubt there is a vinyl that would be as shiny as glass. Your best bet for the closest match is to have a bodyshop paint the top part. I was actually talking to someone else about just this thing yesterday..it would look awesome!
Ed, I agree, I would have a body shop do it, or not do it at all. I like the two-tone look on Vettes and think it would look great. When does the new Vette arrive?
