Question for anyone in Vienna re New Year's Concert

    I’ve always enjoyed watching the New Year’s concert by the Vienna Philharmonic on television. I would love to go there one year to see that concert in person. Does one have to be a rich and famous member of Vienna society in order to attend this concert? Can anyone get tickets if you order them far enough in advance? I would imagine they are quite expensive. Does anyone out there have any insight ? Have any of you in F-chat land attended this concert and could share some insight ?

    I'll check it out. I just finished listening to the concert while cleaning up from last night's festivities at our house. As they say, a good time was had by all.

    Hopefully we'll also hear back from someone who's been to the concert and can share some personal insight.

    the allocation of tickets is done by a drawing. chances to get a ticket are obviously rather low and are independent from the date of registration. there's a black market for tickets, but i have no sources. 2 years ago, i was organizing 2 tickets for the grandmother of a friend of mine through american express platinum services. the price was about USD 5000 per person!
