Why would you want to have the race messed up when Ferrari are starting one-two? Or should it rain only from the third position on?

hmm...I quite like that idea :D

As I said, I really hope it doesn't rain. I'll be more than happy with an easy ,boring, unexciting, predictable, climax-free Ferrari 1-2 :)

    Forza Ferrari.

Gotta love how good kimi is with his words:
Q: (Juha Päätalo – Financial Times Germany) Kimi, in Turkey, it was quite a big disadvantage to start on the dirty side of the track. How do you see it here?
KR: I think maybe it’s the same, maybe not. I don’t think it’s such a big difference here, because the cars go a bit everywhere on the main straight, so probably it will be more or less the same.

Yes all bets will be off as it becomes a coin toss, you will see a smashem derby. That is too far left of a procession. The only time I wanted rain in Monaco is when Ferrari were not on the front row. If it rains it will only make it harder for Ferrari to win as they would have to crash out to lose. The more powerful cars have more chance of this without TC. Rain does not make it any easier to pass by a long shot. Rain on other tracks is alright as passing is a lot easier. If one commits to a pass on this track and then the door closes, there is no way out but the wall. There will undoubtedly be safety cars out if it rains and that will only bunch up the pack. The only ones that does not favour is Massa and Ferrari. Would you be calling for rain if Alonso was on poll? Procession or not, I hope Massa goes wire to wire with Kimi right there with him.

Massa go poll! ;) Ferrari front row!

    Monaco weather forcast: http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/MNXX0001

The high tomorrow will only be 15C. That will make the tires work completely differently than today. Add a little drizzle and we have a skating rink.

LOL :p Yep, this could really bollox up the (much speculated) Alonso deal. ;)

I don't think we need rain to make the race "interesting". Between the hazards of Monaco, and the one-stop fuel loads behind the leaders, nothing is certain.

Rain could make it harder for the leaders to pull out a long lead for a two-stop strategy, but intermittent rain could benefit those who want minimum time on the options.

Of course, if you define "interesting" as cars banging wheels with each other, .... that's tough enough in the dry, at Monaco.

Besides: no diamonds on the cars this year, so no need to pray for wrecks. ;)
Or are people hoping to see a Red Bull try to park in one of those yachts?

Huh? I never really watched it, myself. But an ST165 (like Carlos Sainz' WRC winner) was my winter rat in the snow zone layer. :p

Where IS Ted?? I chatted with him last week, and then when I go to call him yesterday, his number is disconnected.

Ted? Calling Ted? Maybe he is laying low until after Monaco and the 500. I mean, what if Massa wins and Danica.......gulp....wins?

Ted, Ted, we'll still like you.......Ted? Come back Ted. This forum is no fun without you!

Actually yes. As much as I'm a fan of Alonso, I don't want him to become a WDC anymore (at least not as long as he isn't in a Ferrari). We had that already twice. That's enough. (I would have called for rain also if Kimi or Lewis had the pole.)

Let's face it: Despite all the glitz and glamour, the Monaco GP is only interesting if something unplanned happens. Otherwise everybody will be on a one stop strategy and take back the positions they had before the refuel, which happens to be the positions they had after making it through St. Devote.

The second most boring race in the calendar is Hungary. And they call it the "Monaco without the houses". If you can't pass, it ain't much fun for the audience. I was in Hungary last year and the race is a bore.

Wow I didn't even tip Massa to be in the top three for quali much less the race. Hopefully he can keep it out of the wall without the TC and we can get another nice 1,2 for Ferrari.

So apparently Ted has gone missing? even if reading his same post over and over again in multiple threads gets tedious he certainly brings entertainment to the racing section.

See how much better qualifying goes when they don't park at Rascasse? ;)

Last year was boring -- up front --, because the Macs were under team orders, and the long wheelbase Ferrari couldn't challenge on the street courses.

But at Monaco, expect the unexpected.
(Well, at least the unplanned. Kimi's burning McLaren was unplanned, but not awfully unexpected. ;) )

I think the front four are on a two stop. But Kubi and Nico look to be on a one stop. Could be interesting.

And the back of the pack always has its moments. (Will either STR make it through lap 1? Stay tuned.)

20 cars running within centimeters of the barriers for 78 laps? Boring?
(I park almost that close to the walls in my garage, but I don't do it at 100 KPH. :p)

As long as we don't see reversed grid, rain is about the only thing making a street GP (as Monaco or Melbourne) interesting. Other than that for the most part it is basically a procession race with a predetermined result.
