Ok Ok Ok, I know some of you think I don't use a pressure gauge and that if I did mine only goes up to 11psi but my tyre pressure gauge died at the servo on the way to the track so I used the Pirelli guys gauge and I thought it looked great but the price was pretty steep so I went looking and thought the Michelin one looked good :

Something better for under $200 ?

Also looking at pyrometers as Giovanni Millard is always banging on about you can't do track work without one but they are like $500-700 :eek:

I cry when I hand over that sort of money when all I have to do is just drive faster :p

    Any suggestions ?

Longacre make the best quality per dollar tyre equipment. Anything cheaper won't be accurate. 500 is roughly what you'll pay.

Having said that Demon Tweeks in the UK have Longacre base model for 267, will owe less than 350 after Post and GST.

DT are really good service and value.

Moretti needs that one,'cos he always plays for sheep stations in the 2 or 3 times per year he's on the track.....especially one that highlights the 11PSI mark.

I've only started using a pyrometer in the last couple of years, it's useful but generally I can feel if I'm getting the right grip level and therefore have the right pressure. There's a big difference in behaviour between semi-road tyres and slicks, which are extremely pressure sensitive.

A pyrometer will however alert you quickly to alignment or camber problems, which avoids blistering.

A pyrometer is a pretty simple piece of electronics. Get a multimeter from Jaycar with a temp probe - $50

Well I bought the older analoue type tyre pressure gauge on Wes' recommendation as he reckons the digital readout variants are rubbish and I "value" everything my Karcher supplier says :p

BTW what a waste of room there is on the dial, it goes WAY up to 100psi when all I need is one that goes to 11psi :)
