Purchasing a 2019 488 Spider

I had a 488 GTB for about 1.5 years. Rock solid. Great car.

 

I had the exact same experience. Unplug the exhaust bypass valves and the exhaust note will be music to the ears. If the battery hasn't been replaced yet, do it or at some point you will get stranded (FIAMM batteries are just absolute junk). Other than that, the car is bullet proof. my 2019 488GTB at 6700 miles has been solid.

 

I have a 2019 Spider. Other than the crappy Ferrari battery mine has been very reliable.
I have the exhaust valves pinned open. Sounds great but very loud at startup.

Not a '19, but I purchased a 2018 488 Spider last May. I've doubled its mileage to ~8000 in the 10 months since I bought it, and driven two track sessions at Silverstone and Snetterton. The car has been rock solid, no problems to report, and I am absolutely delighted with it!

You need to keep the brake rotors clean; any dust at all and it screeches.

Maybe stating the obvious, but you need to keep it plugged into a battery tender; make sure you can garage it with access to power, unless you're going to daily drive it.

Up to you on the exhaust valves - personally the last thing I want is a blaring noisy car if I'm just driving round town or rocking up to the club or hotel, I'd feel a bit of ******. They open at about 4k rpm, and I think are always open in Race mode anyway.

No problems so far with my Ferrari battery, but after reading the concerns on this forum I do carry a Noco battery booster... never used it on the Ferrari, but have used it a few times on some of my other cars that don't have garage space, so I'd highly recommend having one as an accessory.

 

I also carry the Noco battery booster with my 2019 488 Spider. Have had to use it three times until I had the battery changed (2 Ferrari batteries with the third one being an Interstate battery which has been excellent). Highly recommend the 488.
