It is time to replace my every day shoes. I am seriously looking at picking up a pair of Puma driving shoes.

How are they for comfort as far as daily wear goes?

    What is the durability like?

Are there other brands that you might recommend (same basic look/style)?

Any help you folks could offer would be great.

I've never actually owned a pair of "true" driving shoes, but I have owned a pair of Adidas Sambas for the past four years and will not drive in anything else. $40, have a good, classic look to them, incredibly durable, and as far as driving goes they give me great pedal feel, stay on the pedals when I want and move around on the pedals very easily when I want to, and plenty of space in the footwell.

I have a pair of Puma 'driving style' everyday shoes. Can't remember the model. They aren't marketed as a driving shoe specifically, but they do have a flat sole and rolled heel like a driving shoe.

That being said, they are NOT comfortable for walking around. They're ok for short bits, or running errands - but I spent a few hours in the mall in them last weekend and was not happy. The sole just didn't have enough cushioning.

Exactly what I am replacing... I may end up with another pair, but I am looking at a few other options.

I have the Speedcats. Very comfortable, but they wear out quickly due to no toe protection and a thin sole even in the high-wear area at the heel.

Don't get the white suede if you like your shoes to look clean. They'll last about an hour before getting scraped and smudged.

They are reasonably long wearing...I have 6 or 7 pairs of Speedcats. Agreed about the suede versions. I have a black set, with white suede swoosh....white not looking so good any more. I have some dark blue suede ones, but the white swoosh is made from white vinyl or leather, so looks fine.

They are not that well padded, so great for knocking around, but not suitable for long distance walks I have found.

Addidas makes a neat shoe called the "racer" or something like that, I have a couple pairs, they have a goodyear logo and script, along with a copy of the Goodyear F1 tread pattern on the sole, along with some fake carbon fibre trim...they are a bit more padded than the Speedcat.

Picked up a pair of Pilotis at Laguna Seca last year. Comfortable, easy to wear, and they look pretty cool. Mine are Rosso Corsa. They even sound Italian :)

I have a set. I would not recommend them for daily use. They wear pretty fast, the rolled tips get uncomfortable after a while, and there is not too much cushioning on the bottom of them.

I bought some JP Tods for Ferrari driving shoes about 7 years and wore them about every other day for five of them and they are still almost perfect.

i have a pair in blue and they are great. Just don't wear them if you plan to spend a lot of time walking or on your feet that day. They are very comfortable, but can get tiring after a long day.

These would be the 'Futurecat'. I have to pairs, one in suede, and one in leather. After a long drive (30mins +), the top rear of the shoe really cuts into my ankle, and causes a sharp pains in my knees which is very annoying. If the ankle were to be cut a fraction higher, I'm sure they would be a lot better. There is little padding in them, and they aren't the best shoe for a long drive / long walk.

I have a pair of 'Speedcats' that I wear a lot more regulary. They are extremely comfy to be in, and never ache my feet. I virtually wear these every day, and always drive in them. I have a pair in white/grey suede, with the blue leather 'stripe'. I find them relatively easy to keep clean, as I always hit them with the suede brush before I wear them.

    Andrew :)

I had a pair of all-black Puma driving shoes, fastened via Velcro. They were amazingly comfortable. After a week of daily wearing ownership, I threw away every other pair of shoes I owned. You can definitely wear them on a daily basis.

I've got two pairs of puma Speed Cats and one pair of puma Kart Cat IIs (the ones that say 'power' and 'brake' on the right and left shoe respectively).

I love them, they're perfectly comfortable for daily wear and they are my only casual shoes other than a pair of running shoes... for you know, running.

I have a pair of black with white Puma stripe shoes. They are VERY comfortable. If you get the ones with the Ferrari logo, you walk 3.2 times faster. ;););)

I have 3 pairs of the leather Ferrari speedcats (yellow, black, red) and one suede red one. I wear the suedes all the time and they feel like slippers. Feel great too when driving the Fcar. Not the best when it is raining outside.

I have a pair of shoes by Gola, not sure of the model, but on the inside they say "Racing" and have a black and white checkered pattern on the insole. Very comfortable, and I like them better than the Speedcats for driving (of which I've owned two pair).

I have a pair of Puma Fluxion GT's sitting on my office shelf right now. I'm waiting on another F-chatter to come by and purchase them. They are
extremely narrow, which is good for the small footwells and tight pedal space of his Daytona. As for an everyday comfortable shoe? No way would
I wear these. Very hard to keep your balance in them. I have several pairs of Cole Haan driving mocs that are great, and a pair of Tommy Hilfigers
that are more comfortable than bedroom shoes. I've had them for about four years now, and have found a replacement at Shoe Warehouse for only
$54.99. What a bargain. I may buy a few pairs just to keep for the future. They are black with red stitching.

The regular Puma Ferrari driving shoes are horrid for walking around in. There is no sole support and the narrow heel is uncomfortable for walking.
The new Puma Ferrari quasi driving shoes are awesome for both driving and walking. The toe part of the sole is just like a regular driving shoe (thin support, narrow) but the heel has more support and is wider. You get the best of both worlds. I have them in black, yellow and red. They also make white.

today, wearing a pair of black 1803 driving shoes, with heel toe pads because I drove the F-car to work today.

Verdic on daily shoe: bad. thin sole and really made for driving and no distance walking.

FWIW Puma makes a lot of driving "style" shoes. Real driving shoes would be the Nomex funny-looking things: http://www.darkhorseracingsafety.com/boots.html
