I am recently obsessed with the FF. Been looking around...I'd appreciate your collective thoughts on this one. Does anyone know the car? Also, how does ride compare to a 612? 2012 Used Ferrari FF 2dr Hatchback at Lamborghini Sarasota, FL, IID 12230046
looks like a screaming buy if its clean. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ff-f12/436890-612-ff.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ff-f12/359911-question-612-scaglietti-owners-did-you-moved-ff.html http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ff-f12/421245-sold-612-bought-ff.html
If you are obsessed you are dead meat. Drive it and see. FWIW the "0-60" site logs the 612 in the low 4s for 0-60 and low 12s for the quarter. The same site logs the FF at 3.4 0-60 and 11.4 for the quarter. Ferrari 0-60 Times & Ferrari Quarter Mile Times | Ferrari LaFerrari, 458, F355, 360, 550 & more 0 to 60 stats! So no doubt the FF is meaningfully quicker. Then the practical aspects of the 4WD and the more usable rear seats. And of course all of the digital control stuff is there, esp. the fabulous DCT. With 612s around 100K, it seems worth a bit more than twice the money.
LOL...yeah probably... I have had a 612 Sessana for a couple years, so just curious mostly as to ride and transmission.
The DCT is much easier to live with than the F1, which makes the car much more attractive to DD. It will cruise completely unintimidatingly in 7th gear and feel like a refined luxury saloon with no drama. But click down a few gears and give it some right foot and the car goes proper supercar. The ride is very smooth, you can have the suspension in multiple road settings. It feels more modern than the 612. It's more of a normal car when you want it to be that, and then in turn more of a performance car when you're in the mood for some spirited driving. The steering is electric and thus lighter and faster, the engine is a different family than the 612 unit which means it is more responsive. 4 wheel drive is also a real asset if you're considering winter season usage. Moving away from driving characteristics; the cabin comfortably fits four regularly sized adults (the only issue I have is the rear armrests being slotted a bit too far forward), and the boot will genuinely cater for their luggage. The FF is in short more luxury car and more supercar than the 612. It excels in all areas.
i know the FF is "better" than the 612 but unless you are using it as a DD i don't think it is any more enjoyable. the 612 has its own charms and is a lovely thing to own and drive and the looks are ageing very gracefully.
I don't disagree with any of that - the 612 is way more pleasurable to look at and the sounds it makes are worthy. 612 is more analog and that's a good thing. in the dry its a toss up in which car I wld pick first. Id say the ff on a track but the 612 on a long highway drive. my 612 is an OTO so maybe that makes a bit of a difference. The 612 really is the optimal daily driver - the FF falls short in looks and gains back in functionality.
No cons, really. The FF is fantastic. But why the asking price is lower than the average. There are 17 2012 FFs on cars.com and the lowest asking price is 219k. Why is that?
4 seater Ferraris traditionally don't keep their value, same for V12s, add them both together and you get the answer. But for owners of the FF, pretty much everyone loved theirs. The FF target a very specific market, and people who buy them specifically looked for it, but it's not a big pool of buyers and dealers dreaded to be stuck with one. For people who knows the roads, I just did a run from downtown Chevron to Whistler in 80 mins today in my F12 in pouring rain, I did the same route yesterday in my FF in 85 mins. I didn't really give up much using the FF but I gained more cargo room and doubled the occupancy in the car. The car has amazing traction, I drove both in WET mode but I had way more flashes of traction control active in the F12 than the FF.
Interesting that its never been serviced considering that normal servicing schedule is covered under the Ferraris service contract. Dealer texts and says "hey your FF is due for its annual...when can we come pick it up". All of it covered for the first 7 years. Hell I can't remember when I have to take my Ford truck in for an oil change!
B/C there are 17 2012 FFs on cars.com alone...and a few more on Ebay and DuPont. Buyers market, IMO,and they'll take a 10K hit to move the car. Offer em 200....LOL
I only said it "appears" to have not been serviced since none was noted on Carfax. Usually F dealer servicing is reported. Could have been an omission. Perhaps the car was serviced by an independent or the owner. However, as others stated why would you do that if Ferrari will do it for free. I would want to see service records for this vehicle.
