A few things to check- remove the metal door sill plates and check for rust as the water lies here. Best to rust proof it and coat in an undersealer. Drill the sills with 5mm size and fill sills with waxoil then fit a 4.8mm pop rivit. Cam belt idlers tend to wear on the running surface so best to change these next belt change. Starter motor should be fitted with an aux relay as they tended to have a voltage drop over the cables, this ensures the solenoid gets its full 12 volts.Check that G/B oil is 75/90 and not 80/90 as per the book, much easier to change gear. Treat petrol tank to a slug of injector cleaner yearly to stop engine cutting out when lifting off throttle. If you can afford it, then fit the big front brake kit as the standard brakes are a bit wanting. You can get all the exhaust bits made in T304 stainless to order at considerable
savings. Give consideration to a new water pump but it is difficult to fit in situ. I had mine for 20 years before i went modern

Hi to all of you, and a very Happy New Year ...

Well , what can i say . ... I am ashamed to say that i have not carried out any work on 'Scarlet' for well over 6 months , apart from removing the covers and firing up the engine every other week ( still love that sound ).
This has been due to many family issues - illnesses , house moves , new grandchildren, holidays etc ....

BUT no more distractions ( hopefully ) , so i should be back on track to continue the project this coming weekend . My first task is to reaccess exactly where i am , in order to plan my best way forward..

Wish me luck and look out for my updates ; plus expect to have many queries thrown at you :)

    Roll on 2017 ............

I still have some original ones if you would ever decide on going back to original, but yours is looking very futuristic :)

Hi all .. My fuel guage has never worked since i have had the car.

As the car has been off the road for years , i just want to check the electrical connection and earthing of the unit first ... I removed the cover from under the tanks and was expecting to find access to the unit - No chance !!! Cant see it anywhere .

Question ..Where is the sender unit , can you access the connections , hope you have not got to drop the tanks ..

Any help welcome .. thanks .

I did get a second OEM fan from Stefan(stekkefun4) and put it with 2 upper and 1 lower alu holders. Have to paint them black and put some silicon on that connector hole instead of the red isolation.

This is the fan unit I have found that will fit the radiator . The mountings wiill need a bit of adapting , but i think they will look good on the car plus more importantly improved cooling ..

    When driving normal/ventilators off.
With those enclosed ventilators maybe there isnt enough air passing the radiator. That alu box stops about 20 % of air flow ?! not ?

Cant see a problem myself ... plenty of free flowing air through the fans ( as you can see from the photo off the car ) , but i will do some temperature tests when the car is on the road . ..

Back from a holiday so now back to business .

Ran engine up to temperature until rad fans cut in ... running beautifully .

Still trying to get at the fuel guage sender unit ; only way that i can see to get at it is to drop the fuel tank .

Cable , switches , aux relays and relay box ordered -. Planning a few improvements and mods to wiring circuits for front spots , rad fans and electric windows .

Gave the car another coat of wax ...
