Oh wow. I had no idea. I'm going on a diet soon.
I must thank you for the work you are doing and documenting. This thread and the others here I believe will be invaluable to the ones that follow. Like me. I've just spent the last three hours here. And it has already helped. I will do a project. And of course I will photodocument and share. You guys are certainly inspiring me. For this, many thanks.
I have to wonder how well does it cross into the BB/BBi engine? I would assume that it's stronger, too.
Newman has a 512M crank in one of his Boxer projects and I know he already has 512M titanium rods in a BBi. I have a set of 512M titanium rods coming from the factory supposedly the last set. With the 512M crank and titanium rods we are anticipating being able to increase the redline to around the 8,500 range. Couple that with custom diff carrier and ring and pinion that Newman did for the project and we should be GO for launch. Plus we still have a few more goodies that we will let out of the bag later.
I am so impressed with your tenacity and vision for this project. I'm of course crazily admiring of the work by the gifted demi-god restorers on here (Craig, Paul, others) but when a mere mortal like Monty with a real job ( ) sees a project of this magnitude through, it gives hope to those of us who still must think about which end of the oil wrench to use. Can't wait to see the real deal on the road this summer!

I knew that changing the wheels had its pros and cons. I felt that this was the best option in an 18 inch wheel. The TRX tires in my opinion are the worst part on a Boxer. They won't be missed or invited back to the party.
Can you advise -- what size tires did you settle for the back of the car? What's the max width that would work on the BB/BBi without rubbing or any other fender issues?
The information is in post156 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142220572-post156.html Using Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 245/45-18F 26.68 275/40-18R 26.7
My project is in the final stages. The gents over at FoA have renamed it BB512MM. Does anyone know how to rename the thread?
It is confirmed the BB512MM will be at ICD and the weather forecast looks good at the moment. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/south-central-usa-tn-ms-al-ga/457524-italian-show-norcross.html We haven't posted anything recently so the big reveal will be at ICD.
