    Hi All,

I am having a nightmare with my FF, the bodyshop ruined the master Engine/Ignition ECU and my car dont start. Got another ECU but people are having issues programming it, one person said the data is corrupted. I know Ferrari program them but they need to connect it online back to Ferrari to get the original ECU files etc however they say buy a new one from them for £2000. I have sourced one for £400, is there anyone else that could do this without going to the dealer?

    Thanks

You did not specify were you are living.

Burning new firmware to the ECU could make you fail inspection, as some agencies are now validating the furmware checksum is still stock. So depending on your location the factory certified parts could be your only solution.

    Thanks

    This isn't actually true.

Also cloning an original factory firmware from one ecu to another does NOT change or alter its checksum, why? well you are writing the same data so the same sum is the outcome! That's pretty much the whole purpose of a checksum, to match the original source data.

You didn't yet get back to me with the backup data from the ecu.

That's if you've backed up the firmware of the original ECU... The OP said the ECU was ruined, so depending on what was damaged, this could be challenging. With a bot of luck the original memory was not trashed and the firmware is still "readable" (i.e processor still alive and not copy-protected). That's lots of IFs.

If I were to deal with a car of that era, I would make a backup of all these troublesome firmwares (not only the ECU), while the car is still working!

    Hi All,

    Finally got it fixed!

    Used Autotronics in Leicester UK

They cloned it properly, including the immobiliser data and everything. Car fired up straight away.

Big shout out to them if its allowed, the previous 4 ecu guys who cloned it didnt clone all the data properly.

    Thanks for your help!
