Hello! I'm thinking of buying a 2005 model F430. What are the problems of this model that I should be aware of? I've heard so much about 430s having a tendency to catch fire. What is the cause of this? Any other problems with this model? Appreciate your comments. Thanks.

You will find more than enough info regarding the 05 model year in previous threads. There were some factory recalls, make sure the one you look at has had this done. The fire catching is pretty rare unless something is wrong with the car. Get a good PPI and enjoy.

I've had an 05 from new. There were a number of TSBs, NO RECALLS. Any dealer can run the VIN and tell you if there are any TSBs not performed yet. Problems are few. The exhaust manifolds will fail but are replaced with a new design under warranty. Mine failed at about 12K miles. Fires are extremely rare. It is a stout beast.

458's had a rare problem with fires which was fixed by a recall, don't think 430's had any similar issues.

Mine has been basically trouble free and I use it as DD in nice weather and definitely push it hard at the track. Only issue for me was cracked manifolds taken care of under emissions warranty. Basically bullet-proof. And no belts to change...chains run the cams vs the belts on 355 and 360's. Very easy to own. Plan on $1500 a year for maintenance unless you want to change all fluids yourself (easy if you want to with exception of F1 hydraulics). Do a fluids refresh each year and you should have no issues. I upgraded the brakes to Brembo GT's since I track the car. I use Ferodo race pads...brilliant brakes.

As Ferris Bueller said...."If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."
