So you're saying 355s are worth more in England because the English don't surf the web, and they're worth less in America because we don't have good mechanics? Who knew! As someone else pointed out, the lack of RHD cars is probably what's having the biggest effect on values there. Not that it matters though. I wonder if Rob can do some sort of analysis that shows the most commonly started thread on Fchat. I think 355 owners speculating on values would be #1 by a wide margin.
I nice looking, 30k mile GTB was just listed in Nashville for 49k. Looks clean from the pictures, and the price looks fair, even in a less than desirable color combo. Needless to say, I made an offer.
Wow, that's a nice car - but it's not a 95 Nero / Beige with black carpets! That's the best - looks great with black carpets! Ferrari 355 Low Miles Always Serviced at Ferrari Dealer GR | eBay
Doesn't say "fresh major". Says "belt service". Need to find out what was really done. Also, in 3 years I can not recall ever seeing at car with more that a little over 20k miles on it at Black Horse, regardless of price. It's possible I missed one, but it would be an exception.
Regardless, $49k is a steal for that car. I've only see one other with black carpets and IIRC is was sold thru Motorcars Int, same dealer Luke bought his white GTS from. Perhaps this is the same car.
Not exactly. I pure belt change is not a major. Was timing checked / set? Tensioner changed, cam seals, etc?
Ok Dave. If foa pulled the engine and changed the belts I can assure you if was done properly and thoroughly and that necessary ancillary tasks were performed as needed.
Dealers will make suggestions to owners but won't do without approval. Case in point, Algar found my F1 display defective and the prior owner declined the repair, it's in black and white on the service record.
Ok, a little research. Car was offered for sale in '04 here on FChat with 17k miles. No price given but car was in NJ. Car was offered with 29k miles @ $64.8k, date unknown but could not have been to long ago. Now $49.9k? Re service, drop them an email or make a call to find out. Arguing about it won't accomplish anything.
Is this a good price even if valve guides need to be done? (No data on what the compression/leak down numbers are). Just curious.
I would say no. I remember reading about a decent running 355 with bad leak down numbers that sold for $29K just this summer. $50k should buy a slightly above average 355 IMO, but people argue values all day long so..
If that were the case the only way I would by it is if the seller got it sorted and the negotiated new prices was acceptable, and pending a PPI. I simple am not in the market for someone else's neglected car.
