Does anyone know what the MSRP of the F40, F50, 288GTO, and Enzo was and the price range these cars were trading for? I heard that the F40 was trading as high as $1.5 million and as low as $200K. I recently purchased a 1992 F40 for a little north of $500K and had no idea the huge spread these cars were trading for. I eventually would like to purchase the remaining three supercars. Are current market prices stable or are do you see a large fluctuation like the F40? I know nobody has a crystal ball, but I have just been following the Ferrari market just for couple of years and am new to this market. Any response will be greatly appreciated.

The Super Car Market Letter indicates an upward trend in pricing of these fine automobiles. Therefore a bearish forecast...buy, buy, buy...

What are you? An analyst? A Ferrari Dear Abby? Are you the guy that bought the F50 replica from Motorwerks of Barrington and the 512M replica with the Fiero chassis last week from Tyrone White?

As far as I can remember, the MSRP of a USA spec F40 was well over $400,000. If I recall, I read on here that once all was said and done (taxes, fees, etc....) it would have cost right around $500,000 when new.

Never heard of the Supercar Market Letter. Is there such a market letter or did you just make it up? And why do you base your justification in Buy, Buy, Buy. Are you the gentleman that bought the 512M Replica for $16,750.00 from Mr. Tyrone White last week?

    Gus,

Thoughtful thread and astute observation that the F40 has has a rather large spread in values over relatively short periods of time. For long term collectors by the way, all this may be immaterial, but one always wants to buy right. I smashed my crystal ball a long time ago so I dont do any 5 year predictions, but, I will make 2 current observations:

Of the cars on the market that I have personally seen, their condition ranges from from Concours 'perfect' to restoration project. However, they all seem to ask just ahead of the last high-sale # curve, whether their condition merits it or not. So the challenge lies with the buyer to sort out whats the best car for the prices being asked.

The second observtion I will make is that it appears to me that there are a LOT of cars on the market now, far more than the ones you see advertised in all the usual places. We all know what happens when supply exceeds demand, considering that a lot of the pent-up demand has in fact been satisfied in the last year or so...

Having said all that, if you purchased a Ferrari Supercar for just above its sticker price 15 years later using relatively devalued dollars I say you did just fine. With patience, the other Supercars will fall into place in due course...

BTW I think Geno's just kidding around :)

    Joe,

A friend of mine is about to pull the trigger on a Euro F50 with just under 8,000 miles. What do you think the market is on this 1995 Euro F50 and what are the price spreads between the Euro and the U.S. cars. I do realize you do not have a crystal ball, but where would you bet these cars will be in the next 12-36 months. How about the F40 and Enzo?

I dont know about the market for Euro Supercars as I dont participate in it - sorry im not being very helpful there. Perhaps Andrew T can shed some light as he has handled more Euro F50s than anyone I know.

As for where I bet the car will be in 12-36 mos, I honestly say all bets are off (as far as Im concerned anyway). But a long term collector shouldnt worry too much with a limited production USA spec Supercar.

From what I can recall, the UK list prices of these cars were:

    288 GTO - £72,000
    F40 - £165,000
    F50 - £275,000
    Enzo - £425,000.

    Current UK values would be:

    288 GTO - £200,000+
    F40 - £200,000+
    F50 - £300,000+
    Enzo - £550,000+.

    I hope that helps!
