Should the FF have a lower sales price than the 612, the most expensive of Ferrari's 4 cars? At 350K plus options, I don't see many FF orders. At 270K, I see a lot more. I think that over the last 2 years in So Cal only a few new 612's were sold. How is that worth the time and effort of anyone involved?
I doubt it will be cheaper. I also doubt this car was really meant for the US market. Seriously... we don't drive our precious cars in the rain let alone snow. Why the hell would we need AWD?
You are probably right in both points. Will be priced very high- 390K maybe and is not meant for US buyers. Snow and sand crowd? Russia Germany And Middle East?
I don't think Ferrari's "extra" model lines were really designed for the "I have exactly $270k to spend" target demographic. If you've got just $270k to burn, they expect you to buy a 458 or a California. The FF is more for the folks who already have a 458 and/or a California and want a 4 seater AWD model to drive in the winter or on family outings. It's kind of like how most Panamera owners also own a 911 (or so I read somewhere).
For North America I think it's safe to assume dealer allocations (expectations) will be to sell 1 car per month per dealer. Annually that would be roughly 400 cars for USA/Canada. I still think price will be $300+ base and out the door between $350,000 and $375,000
I read somewhere the FF will be "substantially" more than outgoing Scagliettti. This will indeed be EUR/USD 300k + territory
Manager of the Dealer I spoke with the other day says cheaper than the 612 for base at about 275 but can get to 350 w options...... He says the car is very cool in person. Maybe a sales pitch but he knows there is no way I would buy it or anything other than a 458..... Tony..............
Whatever the price - this is probably the only current production Ferrari guaranteed to be sold at a discount to MSRP...
I just got of the phone to my local ferrari dealer. He just got back from a preview of the ff in italy yesterday, and is going back again tomorrow. He said the car is absolutely fantastic. The pics dont do it justice. he said it will be around the £230k to £250k british pounds. The 612 was £210 british pounds basic. And the are just allocated 2 cars for delivery at the end of 2011. He also said the car would be more limited then the 458, and that it would also hold its value like the 458. Ill have some more info when his back.
And that's what I'm thinking. I'm sure you could push it into the mid 3's with options, but the idea of 300 to start sounds right. What I don't agree with so much are the production numbers. I think this thing is going to sell, especially in Aisa and other expanding markets. All of this new growth in addition to the buyers who were planning on it anyway make it sound much better than 1,000 per year.
I'd love to work for a dealership that would pay for two round-trip tickets in one week. I wouldn't have imagined Ferrari would "allocate" a certain number of cars either. Typically each that show up would already be spoken for.
i know that would be fantastic. He said the 1 of the 2 cars have be spoken for but the other not. he just called be back 20mins ago. he said that Ferrari are going to unvailel the car on there website (internet), and that only interested customers would get a special code to log on and see the live unvailing on the internet. he called to email me the code.
Where are you basing you 1 car a month per dealer from, I do not see this at all. I see 2-3 cars a year per dealer no way its going to be 1 a month the demand is not there.
I can't see more than 150 cars coming to North America for the first model year. Most likely less... CH
I do believe the car will look better in person than in pics. It will be more rare, but probably from demand or lack thereof... It will NOT hold it's value like a mid-engine car. Period. I don't care what anyone says. They never do.
I agree. My dealer sold 2-3 612s per year, and I doubt the FF will be much different. I was told it will be a little cheaper than the 612, but we'll see.
