Hi Tojo. I may have a spare Ferrari reservoir in a box in the loft. (It’s not a Maserati one anyway) as it is in chromate. I’ll look at the sticker tomorrow and let you know what it says.
    cheers.

Hi again. I’ve just had a look at the reservoir and sadly my sticker is in a worse state than I thought. I can’t make out any numbers at all!

This fluid may have a different formulation now but the labeling indicates it is what was spec'd in the ZF service manual that I have
Power Steering Fluid (1 Liter) - Febi 08972

Indeed no more ATF in our power-steering!

The Ferrari owner manual recommends the use of regular ATF. Unfortunately nowadays ATF is formulated differently. Although these newer blends are OK for old transmission (designed for Dexron II), these do not protect the power steering properly. I do appreciate Motul products as they do offer fully synthetic fluid with the proper old school cold viscosity and additives.

As a side note, MANN filter for the power steering are getting harder to come-by. These are not listed any-more in the MANN catalogue. Might be a good time to replace ours while old stock is still available.

My mechanic just put in ATF Dexron III despite me questioning this decision. Is the difference worth having him drain that and put in the Febi 08972?
