How many miles? Almost bought one, actually two, but they where low miles and priced so high. When the planets align, I may grab one. I am hoping the ban to import will be over so I can get a euro version.
69k - I actually have it for sale currently in the 'other cars' section and on eBay. I'd really love an m5 of that caliber, but I think the ship may have sailed for me pricewise.
True Bart and don’t forget the movie Leathal Weapon 2 or was it 3 although it was an M6 , basically the same car but w/ a stronger twin cam 24 valve engine that came from the M1
I had one a 2008 from new till 2015. Those are one of the cars I had sellers remorse. I traded it in for a 2015 GT3 then after 3 months, I sold it for a little profit. I like everything on that car, even the SMG. But the best thing I miss about that car was the steering feel and the V10. The steering feel on that car is true BMW, heavy when slow, easy when running. The e39 and F10 has the same steering feel.
My E39 M5. There's nothing out there quite like it, and BMW will never make cars like this again. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is my beloved 1987 BMW 325i convertible. I have owned it since 1997. I just returned from BMW Oktoberfest in Greenville SC with it. It was a 6,800 mile round trip. The car now has 208,000 miles on it. It ran flawlessly. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've had this for a bit. Love it and the way it drives. Took Reserve at the vintage at Road America. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Highly customized: R1100S fork and bars, R1150R tubular Telelever a-arm, R1100GS suspension, center stand delete since I doesn't reach the ground, side stand lengthened 4", custom paddock stand (not shown), GSXR-750 footpegs, period correct Luftmeister exhaust, and many other details. 1994 "Beta Bike": First oilhead/last BMW without a CAT. No doubt. I had one of the first E39s (528i) in the US, took delivery in Sept 1996. Ran it north of 400k miles in the 20 years I kept it. Met an exec with BMW NA, and he stated it was one of their best cars..........
400k miles? Thats a milestone. I remember a mercedes ran 1 mil miles and mercedes bought it back and gave the owner a new mercedes.
The 528 undoubtedly would have hit a mil as well, and as I recall, BMW had the same deal at the time. Would have loved to see the dealer soil themselves when I brought it in with that mileage. Burned no oil, no engine noise, up to snuff maintenance - but I had too many cars, and getting parts was getting a bit more difficult. Car got almost 30mpg, which is better than the lousy Mazda CX-5 suv we use now as out DD. We do have a Mercedes C 300 rag top, it is a fantastic car......
Me too, I had the same 911 for 20 years! Great, great car also, just like the BMW. Got a little misty eyed when I traded it, and could only part with it when I bought the Spider. With old German cars, once you figure out their quirks, you can keep them running forever!
