I am due to take delivery of a new Portofino next month. I plan to have the car protected with PPF. I have experience of PPF with my current car but it is not a convertible. This might be a daft question but are there any issues with PPF on the convertible roof lifting at all due the regular movement opening and closing the top. My car will have a black roof so different to the body. For those that have had PPF did you do full car or just part of the car? Many thanks.

Full car no issues. It has saved me numerous times over the years on different cars. I have had minor things happen to the car where the car would have been scratched and needed to be repainted but PPF saved the paint and just had to replace a section of the PPF.

Full car here too , super easy to maintain as well. Never have paint swirls etc from washing or waxing. No muss no fuss.

Same here, full car no problem. Will get the M coated but didn't do the 812 and still haven't. I paid to have the front bumper repainted on my 812 because of rock chips but no scraping because I have the lifter. However, even though I have scrape plates on the Porto, my wife has managed to scrape it anyway by parking over stops and also she managed to crack the front lip. Since we are trading for the M next month we are just going to let Ferrari deal with those blemishes but the rest of the car looks great. The PPF has protected it pretty well and we have had the car almost four years now.

Blemishes usually mean you are enjoying the car because driving always exposes the car to rocks and whatever else can mess up your paint. I had to replace a windshield on the 812 because of a rock chip and the cost was $7k which is more than what it would cost to PPF the car. The main thing is to drive the car and enjoy it, don't sweat the small stuff as they say.

Paid a bit for Grigio Ferro so will be happy to show it off in all its glory. Will make sure I post some pics when it arrives.

Just for clarification the FACTORY does put some PPF where the top touches the rear body panel. As such I had only the front /mirrors/rock chip areas done at my personal Detail shop. (1/3 the price of dealership)

It actually depends where you live. I have a beach house down the Jersey shore and the salt air/humidity is a f’n nightmare on PPF. It may save you a rock chip but I had little bubbles all over both my Portofino and 992TTS. The Porsche was so bad I actually had it taken off. So while everyone extols the virtues of PPF, just be aware that it’s not perfect and some climates are extremely unsuitable to PPF.

I lived on the bay here in Sarasota , Florida for 28 years and now live 2 blocks from the water and never ever had an issue with any of my last 5 fcars bubbling.
All were fully wrapped. Odd what happened with your cars. Did your cars sit out in the open all the time ?
