My wife’s new Portofino was dropped off. Nothing in the manual’s index regarding how to program the opener. Any help is appreciated:)

Found the below in another forum:

I have found the following to work on my F12, 812 and Portofino

    1. Clear all old codes by holing button 1 and 3 on the mirror and hold until light flashes then release.

    2. Push home link button and your hand held garage door remote at the same time (push homelink button that would be the same as your remote) until the home link button flashes slowly then rapidly. Then release both buttons at the same time.

    3. Push the home link button (same one as step 2) and hold it until it flashes rapidly and then turns solid.

    4. Go to your garage door opener that is mounted in the ceiling and find the learn button (usually on top right of lift master openers) and press the learn button just once.

    5. Go back to your car, push the home link button from step 2 above and press for 2 seconds then release and repeat this and your garage door should open/close.

Thanks for the help. Although, the reason it wasn’t making any sense is because the car doesn’t have that option. I just bought it new for my wife, along with my F8 order. Never occurred to me that a garage door opener is an $1,800 option that the dealer apparently decided wasn’t necessary.

It's part of the mirror. I have had this on two dealer spec cars, my Cali T HS and the Portofino. I had them replace the mirror with the homelink one on my Cali T HS as part of the sale. I didn't bother on the Portofino, my wife uses a handheld remote, not a big deal but don't want to waste money on the mirror exchange. I sort of agree, I have a totally loaded Portofino without homelink. I did spec it on my 812 and my 488 had it.

I've learned something new throughout this process. The dealer never made me aware this was even an option, because I guess no one selects it when they order. Having said that, I did add it to my F8...but have convinced my wife the handheld is just fine for the Portofino.

It does work well, actually less erratic than the previous model. You can get it fitted at your dealer as it I listed in the accessory brochure but I wouldn't bother. I am sure your wife can find a better use for that $2k.

I posted this MANY years ago here.

    1. (Optional) Press two outside buttons on the buttons on the mirror and hold to clear the device on the car mirror, until the light blinks rapidly. You can always clear a single mirror button by holding it about 30 seconds until it starts to blink rapidly if it had been programmed before.

    Now an old garage door:
    1. Press and hold a button on the mirror until the green light blinks slowly
    2. Press and hold your garage door button on the remote until the green light on the mirror blinks fast
    3. Let go of both buttons

Try it, it should work just fine on an older garage door.

I expected that to work for a newer garage door but there is an extra step you will have to do.

    1. Press and hold a button on the mirror until the green light on the mirror blinks slowly
    2. Press and hold your garage door button on the remote until the green light on the mirror blinks fast then let go of both buttons (you MAY have to press the garage door button a couple times according to the manufacturer)
    3. Try the mirror button, if it doesn't work (as mine did not work) do the next instructions
    4. Press the LEARN button momentarily on your garage door opener mounted in the ceiling of your garage
    5. Within 30 seconds get in your car and press the appropriate button on your mirror that you just programmed, look for the light on the garage door opener in your garage ceiling to blink.
    6. Try your mirror button now ... like magic it works.
