You should buy when you find the car that checks all your boxes. Getting a car that’s closer to the spec you want is more important than 8 months of depreciation.
You're absolute right . I guess it's hard to get the best price and find a car that checks all the boxes.
In a way, trying to get the best price is a false economy. The most cost effective way to buy a Ferrari is to make sure you get into a car that will provide enduring enjoyment and you won't be itching to replace a year later because you settled in the interest of saving a few thousand dollars. It's a luxury, indulgent purchase and it's valuable to recognize that while you're shopping. Buying one Ferrari you love is a lot cheaper than buying two Ferraris because you weren't in love with the first one.
My kids are looking at this thread and they totally agree with this , including myself. Words of wisdom .
Wait until spring and get an M. It’ll keep dropping. If you get a reg Porto now I think you’ll just feel like you settled. Yes the M sounds great even with GPF since they deleted the rear box. I think the M looks slightly more aggressive also. The transmission is a nice improvement as well as the extra few HP. Good luck and being patient will be fun dreaming while not yet spending the money. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ver, you can wait forever for the next great thing and never enjoy the current great thing. I bought my Porto in 2020 and have had problems only with the battery. It drives beautifully, gets a lot of compliments (Azurro California) and gives me the feel good factor that my previous 911 could not. Unless you are going to do some serious racing, get the 2020 and save the money for various cosmetic upgrades and maybe repairs. But get it NOW and drive it NOW. Tomorrow may never come.
yes your right they are not selling I’m seeing the same cars for sale for months after months people just don’t have the money . There’s the super rich who do but they won’t be buying anything less than £200k then there’s the ones who can just afford but money still tight so the car isn’t really a priority. There la a portifino M in rosso portifino here at £159k $210 . It’s £15k lower then anything else it’s one of the highest options at £75 k I’ve seen carbon everything even the rear diffuser 9000 but 3 owners 2021 (that would put me off ) also as full ppf now I don’t know why but that’s just sold after 7 months up for sale .i quite fancied it but the lady want a gialla Moderna (yellow) come back in another 4 years the same car with over 20.000 miles will probably loose another £40k . Which is a lot for your average guy to loose it’s like them working all year 9-5 for free I wanted Giallo Modena as well, had to have Magneride, the nicer wheels and of course the carbon fiber cupholder lol.. I waited patiently, it was worth it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi I took MacNugget advice and I bought the 2022 M because it checked all the boxes that I wanted. As matter of fact, if I had to build the car, I would've taken the same options . It's fully loaded ( 28 items on the passport ) with only 1900 km and I got a great price. I mentally accepted the fact that it will depreciate around $100k in the next 5 years and it will than stabilize after that. But meanwhile, I will enjoy it because there is no other Ferrari model that I will truly like to own for long term. It's a coupe , it's a spider and its comfortable to drive for long and short distances. And it's a great looking Ferrari. You can't ask for more. Thanks
I always think Grigio Silverstone is a very classy color and without the flash of some reds. Congrats, way to go!
Hi This is the Portofino M that I bought from the dealer. I paid $90K less than it's MRSP . Less than 2 years old, with 1 1/2 year full warranty . It seems like it's a buyer's market. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A 2023 Nero Daytona over Cuoio Portofino M with 925 miles and an MSRP of $370,313(!) sold on PCarMarket on 10/11/2024 for $278,000 high bid + $5,000 buyer's fee = $283,000 = $87,313 under MSRP. There were just six bids. Seller was a dealer in Tennessee. <https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2023-ferrari-portofino-m> A 19,598 mile 2022 Porto M in Rosso Portofino (terrific color IMO) over a Nero + Nero Alcantara interior with an MSRP of $381,111(!!) sold mid summer shortly after the asking price was reduced by the selling Ferrari dealer in IL to $255,000. If there wasn't any further reduction to the price the sale was $126,211 under MSRP, but that was for a very high mileage (for a Ferrari) car. OTOH, there are still dealers asking over MSRP for some very low mile Portofino Ms, or with only slight reductions below MSRP. I have been on the fence between the Porto M and Roma. I like the look of the Roma more but not its haptic controls and center touch screen that seem to garner almost universal scorn by reviewers. EVO founder Harry Metcalfe ("Harry's Garage" on YouTube) said he would take the Portofino M over the Roma any day. I sometimes think I should reprise my first Ferrari, a 246 GTS Dino Spider purchased in 1975, but the price has increased very significantly over the almost half century since I owned it and Deze Olde Bonze of my 77-year old body likely wouldn't be as accommodating to the small cabin and seat as they were then.
Drive both, choose the one that speaks to you and never look back. Many 77 year olds are comparing the 0-11mph times of electric wheelchairs, bravo to you!
