I ran into a friend of mine today, who is a big F1 follower and a BMW die-hard fan. So I asked him, what he thinks- Is the championship tainted? He looked at me funny and asked >Is the pope catholic?< I think it is not just the Ferrari crowd that see it this way.
Just trying to get the thread back on track. Somehow the topic of Lexus came up, got me wondering why Toyota isn't using the Lexus name instead of Toyota. Like Honda is racing Acuras.
Sorry Ron, I started the Lexus mess. What was discussed in that mess holds the answer to your question. There is no Lexus in Japan. It is all toyota there just like everywhere else as far as I know, except the US. For example the 300ci (or whatever it is) is a Toyota Altezza in Japan.
we certainly have lexus here in Australia. the marketing is totally separate to toyota, as are the lexus showrooms.
perhaps this poll is tainted. When 83% of the voters agree with me, I have to wonder... BTW Driving a Lexus is like taking a shower with a raincoat on.
Actually there is Lexus in Japan. If you go to the Super GT website, you'll see that they replaced the Supras with the sc430s last year in order to promote Lexus in Japan.
Oh please, Peter and David couldn't kiss Hamilton's ass harder than they already are. Steve's point is that if the TEAM was found guilty, it means the equipment (including the CARS) and strategies are tainted, which means the drivers, who use this equipment, also had that unfair advantage, therefore every point gained by the drivers is just as tainted as the WCC points Mclaren had.
Maybe they are starting to promote it elsewhere but until recently it was available only in very few countries and definitely not in Japan. They have the same models there but they had different names and were all under the Toyota flag. Either way, whats the difference? Who cares about Lexus? It was used as an example.Same thing with Acura. The NSX was a honda everywhere in the world but here in the US it was marketed as Acura.
Seems like you don't know very far... Lexus is everywhere, did you nick over to Canada for a few days, not see a Lexus, and then decide they only roam in the US of A?
http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns19720.html "There is no evidence at all that Stepney was being paid to pass on information."
Well, I don't think there is ANY F1 driver in the last 30 years that doesn't have some **** to wipe off his shoes....
What about Mika Hakkinen? Nobody ever had anything negative to say about him, and everyone liked him. He was a gentleman racer who never pulled anything that could be considered "dirty" or even questionable. He also never whined about being taken out or anything. He had bad crash which nearly took his life, only to come back and win two championships. Even guys like Villeneuve and Irvine, who were usually very critical of everyone, never siad anything bad about him and were happy to see him win.
It's taken you some time to nail that one down Andreas, I admire your persistence. I'm pretty sure most of us were with you from the outset but there are always some who are strangers to the notions of 'sources' and 'evidence'.
I agree with the previous comment, no world champion is Mr. Clean. Including Mika. You don't become a multiple world champion by being a nice guy. Even Mika who was helped many times by Coulthard never repaid him in kind for helping him win his championships. As for this years championships.....if I were Ferrari(Montezemolo) I'd just take the WC and shut up. All teams have some sort of espionage, you know McLaren is going to be looking at what they could pin on Ferrari next year. It would really be a shame to dock Hamilton of his possible WC because of what someone in his team did after the performance he's put in.
That 'evidence' is worth as much as anyone else's opinion. If anything Stepney further demonstrates his idiocy.
Thanks. I'm just getting started to get better organized for future slam dunk fests. Given all the nonsense some people spew on here about LH and other drivers, I'm going to have a good time a few years down the road. Only downside is, that many of the trolls will have moved on by then.
I'm not sure what your first sentence means. There's a big difference between opinion based on fact or evidence and opinion that's been plucked out of the air with no factual basis. The former is worth something and the latter worth nothing. Your second sentence has got nothing to do with the issue, which was whether or not Stepney received $1m (or was it £1m) for the Ferrari document. I think it has been pretty well established that it's just a rumour that has, at least for now, no basis in fact.
Indeed and sometimes I wonder whether some of the new trolls are just reincarnated ones that we banned for good a long time ago. Imperial83 you back?
