    Hi Fellow Ferrari Members !

I recently purchased a Ferrari F12 and do not want to drill into the bumper to mount my license plate. I live in NY so having a front license plate is required. I went online and found PlateClips (Plateclips - License plate mounts for your Ferrari without drilling any holes) but no one ever answered any of the emails I sent through the contact us form.

I have searched the board and read about Bob passing away.

Does anyone know if Greg has started manufacturing again ?

    Thanks,
    Eric

I tried to reach him through the website and the published "contact " email address several times over the last nine months. I can only conclude he has no interest in pursuing the business or he might be trying to sell the concept as a cottage business. Whatever the case, they seem to be out of business. I'm considering fabricating something myself.

That looks like a great product. I am sure it is difficult to make any money on such a low volume product. It would probably take a good bit of time and headache (people ordering wrong wanting refunds, etc.) insurance problems, etc. Ferrari owners are pretty demanding.

You know what they say: "sell to the classes and dine with the masses; sell to the masses and dine with the classes."

For those that are not aware, Bob Rahaly was the owner and fabricator of the Plate Clip license plate brackets.
Bob passed away from cancer in January 2014.
His user name here on ferrarichat was ChairPilot.
    Great guy, RIP.

The website says that Greg has taken over as the Fabricator of the brackets but I'm not aware of any new bracket designs being offered since Bob's passing.

The Plate Clip home page has a picture of Bob and a small write-up.

I'm very happy with Fabspeed's system that starts under the car.

So far the police haven't hassled me about not having a front plate, but if they start up I'll probably get the above plate holder: screws into the tow hook socket.

Ditto! I bought one of these a week or two after my brought home my California. Only used it once, when I had an appointment at the Police Station :D Worked perfectly, other than interfering with the front parking sensor when I was in reverse, but I expected that.

I have a similar one from another vendor for my FF. Scraped it on a driveway which evidently weakened it, back is made of plastic. Later on the freeway it broke off the plastic mount and I had to replace the plate. Got smarter tho. With the replacement plate I drilled a hole into the license plate itself to secure the mount. Had to do it a couple of times to get the height right. But the long metal plate covers the other holes and the plate won't break. Occasionally you have to retighten the mounting screw but that's it. Oddly, it does NOT interfere substantially with the sensors.

These guys seem to make a good one (at least that is what prior posts said)

Carbonio Performance - License Plate Mounts

Of course I would never have a front plate unless it was for that trip to the police station for a fix it ticket.

In the last 20 yrs Viper GTS- 575M I have never had a front plate on either. Looked over many times and never stopped. Never a problem crossing back and forth and driving in Canada.

I'm using the new outdoor rated Velcro for mine.
No holes, but I can't vouch for what will happen to the paint if I ever attempt to remove it.
I don't see what the fuss is about having a front plate anyways.
