    Hello all,

Looks like I'll be travelling to Maranello later this year. On that occasion, what do you recommend? It looks like Planet is full for the time I'm staying but I don't trust those booking sites... Maranello Village looks very hi tech and fancy, but of course, the Planet is the most infamous of them. I have not heard much about Village, other than that it is rather new. Received quite mixed feedback on Planet, seems that most people who give it high ratings do it for it's prime location rather than actual hotel service. I am a proper enthusiast but would of course like to indulge the Ferrari passion and myth that lies in Maranello. I'm not a boring businessman looking for just a good place to sleep (even though that is a big plus in my book). I want to experience Maranello at it's full.

Any feedback from people whom have actually BEEN to Maranello would be highly appreciated (i.e. no sofa-experts that claim to have seen pics online).

    Thanks,

    Herman

I've stayed in the Planet Hotel and the Maranello Village.

The Planet Hotel is across the street from the main entrance of the factory. Views on the factory, ristorante, Fiorano if you stay on top floor. Breakfast was good (better than Maranello Village). The Planet is also very close to all the shops, Galleria Ferrari, restaurants. Walking distance.

Maranello Village is nice. The rooms are very cheap (~€60 versus ~€90 for the Planet). When I was there, they weren't a lot of tourists. It seemed to be mostly Ferrari workers. The lunch/dinner is very good here and cheap. Breakfast is simple. There are several buildings at the Maranello Village and I assume different room types aswell. People are very friendly there, there's also a small bar for drinks and food at night. It's not as close to the Maranello city centre as the Planet Hotel. Also the Village is a LOT bigger than the Planet because of all the different buildings there. It actually is a small village :)

I've also stayed at the Best Western at the big square in Maranello. I didn't like it very much. Our room smelled like it had been on fire. People were not so friendly, they thought we wanted to leave without paying because we walked to our car. Kinda weird. Our bags were still in the room LOL

I would book Planet and Maranello Village again without thinking twice. Both great hotels.

Thank you for such a quick and detailed reply! :)

The Planet was my obvious choice to begin with as well, but various booking sites list it as full or unavailable. It doesn't help much either that the Planet's new website is absolute crap for and empty...

Maranello Village does indeed look very tempting as it's much newer and looks like it is in generally better shape than Planet (heard a lot of complains about beds and room quality, smells etc. at Planet).

Food is a non-issue, a basic pasta with parmesan for dinner and bread for breakfast (+ my own Marmite). Seems quite cool that Ferrari workers live at Maranello Village though!

Anyway, thanks for your help! Might just go for Village this time, and be sure to book early for the Planet next time around. ;)

Yeah, it was definitely cool to see the Ferrari employees there. There's also a ton of Ferrari art, parts, posters and other stuff (a small Ferrari store aswell) at the Village. So you get the Ferrari experience for sure :)

I've attached a (bad) pic of the Village. It shows it's not just a hotel but more like a complex with 4 different hotel buildings and some restaurants. I've heared Ferrari employees from Milan for example stay here for longer periods. That also explains the cheaper cost to stay there.

Stayed at the Planet in 08. Very nice, and very convenient to the factory and the shops. The food was acceptable, but you are reasonably close to some decent restaurants, and I'd not have anything but breakfast there.

I have stayed at the Planet Hotel and it is really great for the price and location.

I have also stayed at the Best western, I think called Hotel Dumas(?), and we had a very nice experience, especially for the price. The hotel bar closes early, but they let you conitnue the fun on the honor system.

From my experiences, the Planet Hotel fills up really quick. I prefer it because of it's location, and every time we have stayed there, we had clear view of the factory, which I think is pure chance.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay in the Best Western again, which, frankly, has better access to real life in Maranello. The coffee place and the restuarant next door are really nice and lots of fun.

    Stay at planet.
Definitely dine at the Montana, exceptional food.
Only eat at cavallino if necessary, food is marginal.

I agree that the food at Cavallino isn't spectacular but you go for the atmosphere...and that IS spectacular :)

Would absolutely stay at the Planet. Had about one week there in November and woke up the sound of F1 cars being tested at Fiorano 08.00 o`clock in the morning!!! Can`t get any better than that.

I'll second the Montana, we had a great meal there. I seem to recall it being great value too.

Look up the Maranello Palace over by the main factory entrance. I stayed there in December and it was the nicest hotel I had ever stayed at in Italy. That's not saying much I know but my wife and I really enjoyed it. The Village is nice too but it's farther away.
