Does anyone make skidplates to protect the carbon fibre splitter?
Not sure there is a market for that, the Pista should be ultra-rare according to what is reported, and most owners will not drive them to preserve their value - so in the end who would need skid plates? (to Pista proud - and rightly so - owners - please relax, it's not a nasty personal attack)
Check out Scrape Armor. There’s also a new company called Slip Lo that makes no - drill skid plates. Not sure on effectiveness though.
I like the Scrape Armor but not willing to drill holes into the bumper. Wonder if it can be 3 M'ed like the Slip Lo ?
Ask the dealer if the factory makes them for Pista. I spec'ed the factory skid plates on my 812. Since it's a factory option so future buyer cant blame me for the holes lol.
Why does the Carbonio number plate holder sell ? Because of its no drill solution. Don't want to drill holes for a section im wanting to protect ?
Gave them a call yesterday. He said you need to drill some holes . Looking at the possibility of using 3M double sided tape as a possible solution as im not drilling any holes.
Most I have seen are bolt on. If you have a suspensión lifter you should not need them. I would be concerned at high speed with 3m doubled sided tape.
I've installed Automods skid plates that came with preinstalled 3M double sided on my Pista which have done a great job and haven't "unstuck" after 3 years. i also placed them on my 458 and GTS. https://automodsfl.com/product/ferrari-488-pista-skid-plates/
Thanks for this! Looked on their site and currently have 15% off sale. My skid plates on 458 are bolted on and definitely took some hits. Have you had and scrapes and if so do you have any thoughts on whether these can be dislodged during impact since just held by double sided tape?
Sadly I did get heavy scrapes on my Pista from my wife drove down the driveway and jumped off the belgian block curb. The scrapes were pretty bad and got a little dug in but they did not peel off or get dislodged in anyway. My detailer lightly sanded them down to make them a bit smoother but they held up very well. If it happens again, I will just buy another kit or ask them to sell me just the pieces I need. These guards are even more necessary on our GTS since its much easier to scrape them in comparison.
I was pleasantly surprised, easy application and seems like a well made product. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
