Not to distract too far but six cars sounds like a small sample. A big dealership should have 20 Pista allocations +. The next question would be was the dealer distribution for a quarter, half a year or his whole year worth of allocations. The whole 'allocation' business sounds like an opaque science at best and at worst more like pulling rabbits out of a hat...
I find it quite bizarre myself. All the unnecessary pandering and sucking up eventuating in bad decisions being made at a personal level. Incredible really. But for sure I've seen that happen here with a few members.....I won't name names lol.
It all boils down to what a person wants and is prepared to do to get it. For some Pista isn't worth it now because there are better offerings in the pipe as you have pointed out with BB. However, at the time most choices were being made to pursue Pista allocation, and play the game on the day, the future car/s weren't even on the table, hence why it's now plausible that some have since decided to rescind their Pista allocation - probably due to their order not being in build yet - in favor of taking an F8 or BB..... regardless of them saddling themselves up with an entry ticket car. Also, the large depreciation being now realized on the entry ticket cars may be much harder to swallow for some than first anticipated - instead opting to amortize that large depreciation hit out over a period of time (so to get some fair use out of the car for the inevitable losses sustained) whilst awaiting the F8 or BB order to materialize.
Price would be one good reason, and then what they will offer you for you trade? That part definitely won't be very pretty. May prove to be a lot of money for a production car new in the market with no history of reliability - now having a lot more electronic gizmos to keep it all going.
That's what a well equipped 488 spyder costs here. Man I wonder how you guys would react if Trump increased import duties on cars to protect local manufacture and add luxury tax at 33% or more.
Might be, I am going to dig in a bit more next week. I did find out that the F8 will run for 4 years not 2 and pricing will be mid $300's or about 10% higher than the average 488 and there will not be a special version of the F8.
I think if they did a special F8 it would be a big “F You” to Pista buyers and potentially undue their creation of higher priced/“limited” editions
