I am a huge fan of the PS4S K2 tires...however, when I purchased my 612 in November of 2021 it had a brand new set Pirellis (front and rear). The fronts are PZ4 PZero F03 which is the "new" PZero construction and tread pattern and the rear are the "standard" PZero F01 marked tires with the old tread and compound construction. Date codes are late 2020 for both front and rears and they have less than 1000km on them.

As I am in France, I had Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 winter tires fitted as soon I got the 612 home from the dealer. These tires are magic in cold, wet, and snowy weather on the 612 but spring is around the corner....

I use the car as a true GT, although a lap or 5 of the Nurburgring is always a possibility.

So the dilemma...fit the Pirellis I have or spend 1200 euros or so on a set of PS4S K2 Michelins.

I have Pirellis on my 612 ( Bianca, like yours) and Michelins on my 575.
The Michelins are better, but not by 1200 euros.
Use up the pirellis and then switch.

Same problem for me, using the Pirelli before changing to Michelin !
    It is not 1200 € for PS4S K2 Michelin !

    245/40 19" + 285/40 19" Michelin PS 4 , 870 € approximately at a good tire shop, not at a dealer Ferrari !

245/35/r20 + 285/35/r20 ps4s k2 cost me 1032 euros for the set i put on the granturismo last year...I assume a bit of inflation in my 1200 euro estimate.

This is my current plan for my 599. I'm on my second set of Pirellis, when they're done I'm trying the Michelins. Everyone raves about the Michelins.

I had the same situation when I bought both my 612 and FF, I left the Pirellis on until it was time to change,

The tires aren't terrible, its just that the Michelins are better. One advantage you have is the Pirellis will wear out much faster. :D

The set is just under 1000 euros at Norauto - with the fitting I guess it would go to around 1100 euros.

My 599 had Pirelli's on it and they were good, but the wear was not great. - just put a full set of Michelins on and the road noise is way less, and the car handles just as it did before.... I'm pretty much a Michelin guy.

I had Pirelli's on my 550 and felt improvement when I went to Michelins. My 599 unfortunately has a newish set of P Zeros on it and I can't wait for them to wear out. Naturally they will last forever. Like Spirot, I also have a Michelin bias.

    Gents,

Michelin just announced that their latest version of the Pilot Sport 5 will start becoming available in early 2020, first in the EU then the rest of the world. Supposedly, recent third party tests have shown improvements over the 4S.

Read the report on an online auto site but can't recall if it was Autospies or Motor.1 or ********** (before they shut down completely last Jan.31).

I've got 5+ yrs old Pirelli PZeros on my 599 HGTE but still have 6/32" or 7.94mm tread depth on them, but soon as the PS5S advertises on TireRack, I'll be on them. :D

I have had bad experiences with Pirellis on multiple cars both on track and on the street. I never buy replacement Pirellis.

But on the other hand, if they come with the cars, I will just use them up...albeit very quickly...and then get new other branded tires

The weather for the next few months where I keep the 612 is:

    Feb 8/1 (high/low in degC)
    Mar 12/3
    April 15/5
    May 19/9
    June 23/12

March is the crossover month from winter tires and based on the Pirelli temp concerns that everyone seems to have I went ahead an ordered a set of the PS4S K2 tires. Just to finish the story, the tires with balancing and installation are 1149 euros.

Will save the Pirellis for that roadtrip to the costa del sol that i know I will make at some point.

    Thanks everyone for the input.

Well the forecast for the rest of the Month has 12-15 degc as the high so the the swap to the PS4S K2 happened yesterday.

I have driven the same 200km stretch of the A10/A71 (last evening with the PS4S) twice in the past week. With ambient temperatures of 10-11 degC the Pilot Alpin PA4 had temps of 22 degc front and 24 degc rear while the PS4S K2 had 28 degc front and 31 degC rear. Same time of day (20:00-21:30), same rims, same tpms sensors.

The PA4 is a great winter tire, but the difference is so immediate and impressive with the PS4S when conditions improve. Reduced road noise, smoother ride, and better control in every way.

    It took about 5 days to get the tires...fronts are 245/35 ZR20 XL K2 (0222)...rears are 285/35 ZR20 XL K2 (4621).

Pls excuse the very dirty strip of PPF on the inner lip of the arch...dealing with that is task for this week.

The one in lower left has a separate chrome Cavallino on a silver paint background. Upper right is one piece cast or forged. I bought the ones on lower left to remove the Cavallino, paint the background Giallo Modena, replace the Cavallino, and use. Never got around to it.

And while it may only interest me…the winter tire design of the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 (left tire) and the Pirelli Sottozero II could not be more different. In fairness to the Pirelli they did the job in the alps in the winter of 2021.

On my ff it’s tough to tell the difference between the 2 tires in the northeast usa winter//snow. They both do a good job!
