Pininfarina had a Pebble Beach display and unveiled another new limited edition vehicle.

Parked right next to the display was a Dino. Pininfarina has been posting on their social media in the last couple of days and the only reference to Ferrari is a Dino that is there.

I have no idea why I think this is so cool, but they could’ve chosen anything and look what they chose.

It just goes to show that, more than fifty years on, even Pininfarina realizes that a Dino is a tough act to follow. Forza Dino! Fred

Pretty stark contrast illustrating how bloated modern cars have become. Honestly, I’m not sure PF has done itself a favor here…..;)

I think this is a flex by Pininfarina to say: this is what Ferrari could have had. Thinking especially of the SF90.

Fioravanti always talks about "the courage of simplicity." Ferrari's lost sight of this in many current designs, notably the SF90, the new Daytona and to a certain extent the 296. I don't think any of those three will be counted as among the most beautiful Ferrari ever made. The Daytona will retain and gain value because it's rare. The SF90 and 296 -- a less sure bet.

This design echoes the Dino and also seems like a logical progression from the 458 platform. It's lovely. It's a car I'd buy. I wouldn't buy an SF90 or Daytona. A 296 maybe if it weren't for the Camaro tail lights. Though to be fair in the case of the Daytona there's also the small matter of my not being able to remotely afford it.

With a 246 and now a 296 although it is a much larger car in terms of footprint I think Ferrari have done a commendable job in terms of “fun to drive” and to an extent it’s styling. I think given the constraints of modern car design they have probably gone as far as they could in terms of a “small” mid engine mainstream Supercar (ex prototypes, special editions etc.) It is actually slightly smaller than the F8.

one thing that is quite interesting is the cabin of the 246 feels far roomier (and light) than the 296 - probably as a function of all the glass and smaller dash.

I think from this angle the 296 is amazing and echoes the Dino. I was literally trying to decide between a 246 and 296. Deal-breaker for me on the 296 was the rear end -- those Camaro tail lights. Maybe the next iteration of this body will have a better rear end...

Does anyone know how/who helped Pininfarina secure the Dino for display?
