Got my wheels & tires today and already installed them... The original lug bolts and center caps worked perfect!!! That was the only thing that I was worried about... Here are the pics: (will take better daylight pics tomorrow) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those wheels are a good look. I'm glad that you didn't chrome them (not that there's anything wrong with that).
There's always the other extreme, too. Cadillac's new STS comes with carbon fiber wheels to save 30% off their unsprung weight...a trick that should have been done first on Fcars and should certainly be in racing. http://www.***************.com/frame.php?file=pic.php&imagenum=6&carnum=2300
Looks Great ........ Congrats! (Painting the black sill under the doors in red would finish it off nicely !! A la 512TR)
As kain4ever says...this look is getting popular. My next TR is going to have those wheels too. It's a very sensible upgrade and keeps everything Ferrari. Auroraptor: Are you saying that the original TR wheels/tires are stronger and weigh less than the 360 wheels/tires? The 360 wheels may be a bit weaker but they must be sufficient for the job....I've seen 360s on the track using stock wheels without problems. Can you elaborate on this further?
I think he was commenting on the chrome plating mentioned above. Chrome adds weight and the process can induce imbrittlement. Powdercoating adds less weight and has no structural downside. That and it looks better. Chrome is for the "bling" crowd. Testarossas have enough bling already... John
Oliver, If you had the OEM 16" rims with the OEM wheel bolts you are running on very dangerous ground & waiting for a disaster to happen. The TR bolts are 45mm under the head - the 360 rims use 52 mm under the head - 7mm short of what you need. I would suspect that you only have 2-3 turns on a bolt before they are tight? Please, please, please do a check on yours - you should have approx 7 turns on the bolt and I somehow doubt it if you have the old TR bolts. Cheers Paul
I posted in the Modern Ferrari section to get measurements of Ferrari 360 lug bolts and the specs are identical.. My lug bolts from the factory wheels are 52mm under the head!!
Oliver, How many turns are you getting on the bolts? From what point are you measuring under the head? 360 bolts and TR bolts are not the same spec. #110580 - TR Wheel bolt - 45mm #181291 - 360 Wheel bolt - 52mm Paul
I'm measuring from the end of the head where the cone starts.. Anyway, I always check if the bolts are tight and I'm don't really "Performance Drive" the TR... I highly doubt that there will be a problem...
