Almost forgot to post about my new Christmas toy here on the forums! I think I am one of the rare few people around here that thinks the Ferrari 488 GTB is the most beautiful mid-engine Ferrari's ever made (other than the LaFerrari of course), so I saved up all year and finally found my prefect spec which was from an owner out in the Seattle area. It was the hands down best spec I could find for sale and took me like 2 months to negotiate, but I think it was worth it! Let me know what you think of my new 488!? Check out the Spec: First Drive:
Wooooot! I talked myself down from a 488 to a F430 - big mistake on my part and now you're rubbing it in! Merry Christmas to you!!!!!! Kevin
Man the 488 so far is epic i must say! And I just came from an F8! Merry Christmas to you as well, happy holidays!
Good Choice.. You cannot go wrong with the 488. I'd advise against a tune. You just have to drive it. The car gets better with mileage. Here's mine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Love it! You sir have Very good taste in Ferrari's haha. Any problems folks are having with tunes? I tuned my f8 and it was pretty spectacular. But yea the car does run great so far with 4200 miles on the clock.
There's a few threads on the forum where the turbos were blown due to tunes. A new turbo cost about $15k per side. I know because my car is at Ferrari right now getting a blown turbo repaired. Had my car been turned I'd be out about $18k on the repair. In my opinion there's no need to tune the car because you can barely reach the cars limits on the track or on the road anyway. I drive mine very very hard it would be undriveable with a tune. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
WM - question for you... Is the wife OK with you sleeping in the garage with your new love tonight?! Kevin
Oh ok yea I did hear that before about the turbos. You have a warranty on your car still? How many miles on it when it blew out?
Purchased the car around 4k miles. Turbo went around 16k/17k miles. You just have to put your foot in it. You'll feel the power. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Yea honestly the car runs great and sounds really good under load, significantly better than my f8! My f8 does feel like it has more torque however.
So the wife left and you got a new Ferrari in her place? Man, you're smarter than me... Every time I've lost a wife, I've also lost a wheelbarrow.... full of money! Kevin
Will you are not the only one that loves the 488 more than other models....I am with you on this! My 2019 499 now with 9k miles has been stellar. I prefer then more chiseled, exotic masculine looks of the 488. Plus as a huge race fan, Ferrari raced the 488 with extreme success in Challenge, IMSA, WEC GT World etc. As long as you do not modify the exhaust and after a hard run you cool the turbo's you will be fine most likely. I learned a majority of what little Turbo failures the model had, a lot of the failures were modded exhaust. If the turbo does fail then have Pure Turbo's fix it for around $5-6k a turbo.
Went through that once and hope to never again! But now Uncle Sam takes the wheelbarrow to my savings every year
