Ok maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but the rookie years of the respected 'great' drivers have all been fabulous. Perez's rookie year consisted of him making several bonehead mistakes and being beaten by his teammate 30 points to 14 points. Maybe this year's car suits him better, who knows.

Which is why if he's offered the second chair at Ferrari he should jump on it.

He'd be a great compliment to Alonso, but in no way would this be viewed as equivalent to Senna moving into the seat next to Prost at Mclaren. Alonso is still going to eat this kid.

Alonso is capable of eating *any* driver on the grid IMO.

Didn't the haters howl when he (or his agent?) said something like "putting Fred in the car instantly buys at least 0.5 seconds over anyone else."

That's fundamentally why Ferrari paid him the big bucks - While it may not be true, they believed it.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Question for us North Mexicans, err North Americans...until we get a US driver back in F1 should be we throw our support behind Perez?*

*Not at the expense of the Scuderia of course.

I'm still unsure about Vettel, I always have been. This season we will learn a lot more.

He's a magnificent driver for sure and will be recognised as such forever. I think it's splitting hairs when one gets to that level of driving though. It's like saying Joshua Bell is a better violinist than Itsaac Perhlman. Both brilliant, just different in their own ways.

I'm throwing my support behind Perez. My parents are Mexican, but I'm 'merican of course. :) The kid has shown a lot of potential IMO. He put on the same performance at Melbourne as last year, only this time actually keeping the points. I think he will continue to impress us. Of course, my favorite driver is Jenson Button, since the BAR Honda days. Sergio is up there at the top of my fav drivers. There's very few drivers I actually don't like, two in particular, and they are recent WDC ;)

I do not "dislike" any driver its just that I recognize potential when I see it (Perez and Kobi) so I give credit where credit is due. Hell I'm American and my all time favorite driver is German ie I have never based my support system strictly based on nationality, that would be very narrowminded imho.

Hopefully Sauber can keep it up and progress thus be the darling of the season.

I don't know how well he work with Zo. Too good and it would upset the delicate man from Spain. Not good enough, what's the point?

I think that if the seat's offered he'd be a fool not to take it. For his own reasons not the team's.
Even if he's as good as he seems to some post Malaysia there's no saying he'll ever get the opportunity again. As they say in sports "the future is now".

Vettel lost some respect from me after calling Karthekyan(sp?) an "idiot on the track" whilst it was Vettels fault for the incident.

Vettel also gave him the finger several times. Vettel is a tool, plain and simple.

Yes it was Vettel's fault this time, but Karthikeyan has been utterly useless in racing. The only reason he races is because of his daddy's influence and money. He's never done anything significant in F1, he's a second a lap down on his teammate DLR even. He shouldn't be in F1 and never should have been...Decent drivers could take his seat but alas...money. He's got plenty of it.

Vettel is right in saying he's an idiot on the track.

NK was judged to be at fault and recieved a penalty. Also admitted he moved right (even though it looked like Seb moved left on TV). The stewards have access to more camera angles than we do. Maybe it was understandable Seb was annoyed?

And I agree about NK. He is a tool but apparently a very wealthy tool...
