Hi All - First, MANY THANKS for the guidance and advice back the end of February with regard to TreadLightly and the FCA Affiliates Rewards program. I joined TL and got my Control Number from FCA - Jeep is ordered and in process - Hope to get it end of May/Beginning of June - Excited :)

My potentially dumb question is this: Is it common/recommended or just plain foolish and stupid to have PPF/clear bra on the front areas of a Jeep Wrangler? Being an exotic/sports car guy it is pretty much a no-brainer to have PPF on the front - and in some cases the entire hood/lower clip/window posts etc. But given the configuration of a Wrangler and just the general usage and "attitude" of a Wrangler - especially a Rubicon - I wonder if it is silly.

I know the front takes a lot of abuse due to being pretty much vertical but the bumpers are steel and the hood probably does not get much abuse. I opted for the satin black grill so imagine that takes the brunt of the road rash and can probably take it and worst case can simply be replaced.

All that being said it is a brand new vehicle in Granite Crystal Metallic so while I know it is a Jeep and not a Ferrari I still want to take care of it.

All thoughts, feedback and jokes :) are welcome - Many thanks :)

No jokes - I like the Wranglers. My brother and niece both had them. Granite crystal is probably my first choice Jeep color, so good choice there.

If it were me, I’d leave it as it comes. The vertical grille would take the brunt of it, but (a) it’s probably easy to refinish because there’s no color match issue, and (b) these aren’t really great high speed highway cruisers, so you might not be exposing it to the freeway sandblasting a low sports car would get. In fact, we’ll all be keeping some distance back from you to avoid stone chips…

I guess my attitude toward my Jeeps (Grand Cherokee and Liberty) was that they were my use-‘em-up and enjoy vehicles, zero collector value, cheap to run. I took them to the car wash and used coupons for the basic wash and vacuum. Because I was always fastidious with the Ferraris and Porsches, the Jeeps were the opposite. No parking stress, rock chips were shrugged off, etc. So I’d say just enjoy it.

My Jeep 392 will arrive in about 7-10 more days. My first mod will be complete PPF coverage and Exoshield on the front windshield.

Are you going to off-road it? If so, and depending where, pin striping (fine scratches in the paint) are considered a badge of honor but if that bothers you full ppf can be a good idea. If you got painted fenders I would consider protecting those first. Even my roof has scratches--but I use mine.

I might just ppf the impact areas but haven't done it yet. I did protect the windshield even though it's Gorilla Glass.

My wife has a beautiful white Rubicon. She mall crawls with it but still got PPF on the grill, windshield posts and fenders.
The paint will still get rock chipped driving it on the street, so it’s a good idea.
