It's bizarre I agree. I have no idea why. That piece was aired in the afternoon just yesterday on CNBC. I would think if the car was sold they would have reported that instead of what the segment showed. That would have made for a better story and the dealer would look better having sold it vs driving his kid to school in it, right? Guess soon we can run the VIN ZFF76ZFA7E0204692 and see if title transferred or not.
LOL, heavens no! Yeah, that's a good point. A sale definitely would have made for a better story. Strange!
By the way I was at the Naples dealership on 11/6 with the La Ferrari and it was still there. Not on the showroom floor but in the detail building " wait to go to new owner".
Steve Wynn booted the Penske Ferrari dealer ship from his hotel. Candy and I were attending the SEMA show last week and thought we would take a cruise through the Ferrari Show Room. The windows were papered over and the only thing left was the overpriced Ferrari clothing and so called collectables store. According to the store manager Wynn wanted to make more money than the dealership provided so he booted them out and is going to make a shopping mall in that space. The real sad story<script id="gpt-impl-0.809513615961528" src="http://partner.googleadservices.com/gpt/pubads_impl_75.js"></script> is the dealership was sold to the low end Dodge dealer that was featured on a reality TV show with the "blue genie", a few years ago. Well there goes the neighborhood. This information was offered by the Ferrari store manager. He also said his store would be there for 2 yrs.
Quick google check says the new owner is Towbin Motorcars: Towbin Motorcars buys Penske/Wynn venture | Las Vegas Review-Journal While I guess you could say they were sold to a "low end Dodge dealership", since Towbin owns one...you could also say it was sold to the local Rolls Royce, Bentley and Aston Martin dealership, since they own all of those too. I highly recommend you drop by Ferrari of Seattle if you have not been by in a while...they have been remodeling and getting close to finished...most of the public areas are done, and it is beautiful.
There is a long thread on this in the Nevada section. Seems Wynn himself got booted (not the other way around) for selling his LaFerrari. At peast that's what is going around.
The good news is our new LV Dealer will get a larger allocation from FNA than Wynn did. So, shorter waiting times for new cars. And, Towbin is going to plunk down a lot of new infrastructure such as an all new showroom. As noted, Towbin is the biggest selling Dodge dealer west of the Mississippi, the 4th largest Fiat dealer in the US, and sells Rolls Royce, Bentley, and Aston Martin. The Ferrari service center is located in the Rolls area. Also for us locals, it's easier to get to for service as we don't have to worry about going to the Strip. The new shop is about 4 miles away on Sahara. The Lambo dealer moved from the Venetian years ago. They are still doing well. Better or worse? Hard to tell. But it's not all bad.
Sounds like Ferrari is happy about the change. Supports the stories they were PO'd at Wynn. Has the City of LV moved to Washington State or Montana? Why is this in the Northwest section?
Someone in the NW section visited the wonderful, dynamic, fantastic, amazing City of Las Vegas -- and deposited some cash for us locals.
Brian, Because the OP is from the NW and was waxing eloquently about his recent trip to LV and his disappointment with the closing of the Ferrari dealer...things are slow in this section of the forum, so it was a great way to perk things up with some activity. Look at all the newcomers we (temporarily) got!
If the Oklahoma City Thunder can play in the Northwest Division of the NBA, why can't Las Vegas be in the Northwest too?
Well no offense to those that love it there but I understand his disappointment. To me LV lost whatever it had when they kicked the mob out so I guess a Ferrari store would be a highlight.
Yea I know. I hate to comment but its like a lot of things. If people live there and like it I really am happy for them. I just don't get it. And I like the desert generally, I just think the corporate influence on the casinos turned LV into a, well I'll just leave it there.
Even after the years it was there, I was still in awe that they had an actual service shop in the casino, because it is so inconvenient for people who live here to go to the ONE PLACE in the valley with bad traffic and hordes of pedestrians. The only things I could compare it to would be to imagine if the NYC metro dealer was at the main intersection of Times Square, or if the LA dealer were *inside* the gates to Disneyland (or in the parking lot of Mann's Chinese Theater on Sunset, whatever it's called now).
I went into Towbin a few weeks ago for my routine service. Definitely not the same aura going into a dealership lot as there used to be pulling up to the front of the Wynn. Also not able to just hang out at the Wynn and get a meal and entertainment while you wait. But the same quality service and support was there. It's now a longer drive for me and less convenient to reach Towbin, but as long as the people and the service is the same I'll be back.
Jeff Adelman in sales. He's been there for years. [email protected] They had a red 488 out front last week that I assume was a customer car.
Just got back from Wynn Las Vegas and I was surprised to hear that the Steve Wynn LaFerrari flip was the true reason behind the closure. Merchandise store still open for business.
